    AutoConnect failure prevents Ninja from Starting

    I added a new account and clicked the checkbox for autoconnect. I must of not tested the account connection properly before restarting Ninja. Now, when I try to start Ninja, it never comes up. How do I start Ninja without autoconnect so that I can fix this one account?

    Hi douggreen,

    Thank you for your post.

    If you go to My Documents > NinjaTrader 7 and then remove the config.xml file. That file stores the account connection that includes the Connect on Startup option enabled.

    Once this file is removed when you open NinjaTrader you will be asked to re-input your license, and then you can recreate your connection.

    Otherwise, if you send an email to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com and attach your config,xml file we can edit the file to resolve, rather than remove it.

      autoconnect failure prevents Ninja from starting

      This is a bug in Ninja that is inexcusable and should be fixed.

      If a connection fails to load on startup, Ninja should bypass the failed startup attempt after allowing a certain amount of time, and start anyway, giving the user an error message.

      Instead, the exception is just not handled at all, and Ninja just sits there and never starts.

        Try at your own risk

        Doug,

        If you are bold and want to try and fix the config.xml file yourself then:

        **** NOTE: NO GUARANTEE THIS WILL WORK FOR YOU BUT IT DID FOR ME *****

        1. Save the config.xml file so you have a backup
        2. Edit the config.xml file with notepad
        3. Look towards the bottom of the file searching for your data connections. I am using Vision so it looked like this

        </ConnectOptions>
        <ConnectOptions xsi:type="VisionOptions">
        <Backup>Kinetick – End Of Day (Free)</Backup>
        <ConnectOnStartup>true</ConnectOnStartup>
        <DataConnection>true</DataConnection>

        4. Change the ConnectOnStartup field from true to false. This will stop Ninja from autoconnecting to that data feed.
        5. Save the config.xml file with the above change.
        6. Now Ninja should start up.

        Hope that helps

          Thanks Ray and djarvis, I should of replied sooner. After Ray's initial reply, I did exactly what djarvis suggested, I manually edited the XML file and removed the unwanted markup.
