    Partly failed restore

I ran a backup with the following options: save conf files, database, NT script files, templates and workspaces. Then I uninstalled NT 7.0.1000.2, deleted NinjaTrader 7 folder, restarted computer, installed 7.0.1000.3 Beta, and ran restore.

Got an error message (see attachment): "NinjaTrader was unable to restore the selected backup archive file: The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)"

Connections, instruments and options were restored, but strategies and worskspaces were lost. This is *somewhat* unconfortable.

As an eternal pessimist, I had exported modified versions of my strategies (references to UserDefinedMethods commented), but UserDefinedMethods were lost. Comments? Running NT on XP Pro SP3.

jp, sorry to hear about the issues - were you attempting to restore any 3rd party protected scripts that would need an update to be made compatible for NT7 R3 Beta?

No 3rd party scripts. Only self-developed scripts, and all compile without errors.
One of my strategies make use of SMA, no other library indicators used.
I tried to restore with an earlier backup file, but to no avail: same error msg.
      Can you reproduce this error?!?!

jp, thanks for the quick reply - can you please contact me via Help > Mail to Support and include your logs and the file you attempt to restore in NT7 R3 so we can look into it on our end for you?

        Thanks,

          Exactly which log files?

They will be included in the mail you sent us to support if you used the Help > Mail to Support feature to send the restore file in for review, the logs / trace option is checked here per default.

            Thanks,

              I have the same problem.
              Is it solved?
              I have only self-developed strategies.

Haven't received any other information than that they haven't managed to reproduce the error. For the time being my advice is: avoid using UserDefinedMethods and backup your code by exporting all your strategies.

Thanks JP, unfortunately correct - so far we're still chasing this one to reproduce clearly - ntr123: would you mind providing your backup file for testing as well?

                    Hi there,
I have already sent the one that did not work in connection with restore - dated 1 Mar 2011, generated by R2, zipped around 10MB, unzipped 42MB. Or some other backup?

JP, yes thanks I got your files already and was working on reproducing the issues here...I just asked ntr123 that participated in your thread to sent in his files as well so I could correlate both while looking into.
