Memory Usage

Hello Support,

I had run NT about 24hrs with about 8 workspaces and strategies, the memory in use have gone to about 900MB. When I close all my 10 workspaces, I found the memory usage does not drop. Is that normal ? By closing workspace, should it not free up resources ? Can we make it back to original just like after NT starts up, which I found only use less than 100MB.

If you close the workspaces the memory usage should drop after a while. How long did you wait before you restarted NinjaTrader? Are you able to reproduce the issue?

When I test it on my end, I see amount of memory change each time I add or remove a workspace.

Am I correct you use the Windows Task Manager to monitor the memory usage? If so, please try closing the Windows Task Manager and re-open it - does reflect different memory usage?

Not sure, I may not have given enough time. I monitor using the windows task manager. I have restarted everything so will try again tomorrow.

Jason I have notice the same thing. Closing a WorkSpace does not appear to be releasing memory or effect the PF Usage . When I close NT the PF Usage drops substantially and the memory is freed.

@ TAJTrades, are you able to reproduce the issue. Do you see memory reduce if you wait a while?

How many workspaces do you have opened in total? Do you notice a difference if you make use of less workspaces?

Jason, Will try to remember to grab some screen shots when I shut down this evening. Before and after closing workspace (Only use 1) and after closing NT.

Sounds good, however please note that you cannot close the workspace if you only have one workspace opened.
