bars required for multi series

OK, in a ninjascript stratgegy, if I add a secondary daily series for a different instrument, then add an indicator on that secondary series that needs 7 days to start calculating properly, does the strategy try and get the seven days on startup if I have the historical data in ninja? If not, can I set bars required for that series alone, and will that get all seven days on startup?

Hello,

The ammount of data loaded is always the master days to load setting of the master instrument. It will never pull more data then that on a multi series indicator.

What I'm saying is that the strategy will need to have loaded 7 days of data. If the indicator running inside of the strategy or any other secondary data series needs 7 days of data to load.

We already established right at the start of this thread that it needs 7 days of data. I said as much. I'm trying to determine when and how it gets it. Does the strat have to run for 7 days to get this data for a secondary series.

Do you only have a live connection that does not have historical data?

With most connections the historical data is downloaded from your historical data feed provider. No live data is needed.

If you dont get historical data with your connection. I suggesting signing up for a service for historical data. Such as www.kinetick.com.

As it is not practical to wait 7 days for data.

I already said I have the historical data. But you said it will never pull more than the primary series needs, hence my question.

Correct.

So if you set days to load to 2 in the strategy setup. THis will not get you the data you need for the indicator and the indicator will not run.

If you set days to load in the strategy settings to 10 for example. Then the strategy and indicator will run.
