Tick or Minute Data - which is best?

    Hi,

A quick question. I have historical data down to tick level (I also have minute data available) but I only need minute+ data, I'm confused about some of the approaches on this board which suggest loading tick data if you have it as its better.

Are there any benefits of loading tick data vs minute data? I would like to be able to view my data in standard interval multiples e.g. minutes, hours, days, weeks etc. and assume that NT7 would be able to build these from minute data without the need to have tick data? I'd like to avoid creating daily data from 1440 minutes if possible and simply refer to Daily intervals - is this possible using "minute" data?

Hope this makse sense? My motivation is that the tick files are HUGE!

    Thanks

    Oz

    Hello,

Yes tick files would be way to large for month or greater charts and are not meant to be use for the building of minute charts or daily charts.

You would want to use Minute chart data.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
