    Replacing Zen-Fire with Kinetick

    Hi,

I spoke with my broker the other day about switching to Kinetick, and how that would work on their end. The person I got was not very helpful. I'm concerned that my daily charts are not accurate with my current set-up. And I'm paying a premium on commissions to use the Zen-Fire connection. Can you shed any light on how this might work? I'm with Amp Futures. And I recently switched over to NT7.

    Thanks

P.S. When I use Kinetick EOD with Zen-Fire, I have a lot of problems with the intraday charts not working, so I've opted to just go with Zen-Fire during the day, and then try to reload the historical data on the daily EOD. Again, I'm not sure how accurate the daily chart is, and it seems it would be easier to just go with Kinetick, esp. since that's what's recommended with V7. I'm assuming that I could could real time data for my dailies with that connection.

    Hi shali27,

    Thank you for your post.

The daily historical data available through Zen-Fire is for Regular Trading Hours, and so the data that plots will include on the data from those times, and it is the same for Kinetick End of Day Free data. In light of that can you please clarify if the daily data from both Kinetick and Zen-Fire displays the daily data as expected when you right-click and then select Reload Historical Data.

Also, if you create a 1440 minute chart with a Default 24/7 template to simulate a full 24 hours daily bar can you please clarify if that data is expected.

Now, it would not be possible to replace Zen-Fire with Kinetick since Kinetick is a data-only provider. What you will want to do if you wish to get real-time data from Kinetick is supplement the data from Zen-Fire. That way when you connect to Kinetick for real-time data you can effectively replace Zen-Fire's data within NinjaTrader, but you will still need to connect to Zen-Fire second as that will provide access to your live trading account within NinjaTrader. Ryan,

I had posted another thread saying that my daily charts were gappy. I was then instructed to connect to Kinetick EOD. When I hit "reload historical data," the charts were then filled in with the after hours data. However, I'm concerned that I'm not getting that data for the past several days. That is, I'm not sure how accurate my daily candles are for today and yesterday, which, obviously is crucial. I tried doing the 1440 minute approach with V 6.5 but it didn't seem to work out. It does, however, seem to be working now with V7. This seems to be a more reliable approach for the time being. Since I was having problems with intraday charts when connected to Kinetick EOD and Zen-Fire at the same time, I'd rather not go that route.

Also, the link for Market Metrics is broken. Thanks for your help.

        Hi shali27,

The Zen-Fire data would only be Regular Trading Hours, and then the Kinetick as you found when reloading the data loads after-hours data. However, since you are not using Kinetick End of Day and Zen-Fire together your daily bars from Zen-Fire would differ when connected at the same time, and the order of the connection would be significant, as well.

The 1440 minute chart would differ than the others in that it would apply minute data to the creation of a 24 hour bar when the Session Template applied is also set to Default 24/7.

As for the Market Metrics I have included the link for those available real-time indices:

I wish it wasn't so damn difficult to get an accurate daily chart. It seems like it should be a simple thing, and it's crucial to having an edge in the market. I've been having to use the daily chart from TOS because one was not available to me through my Zen-Fire connection. Obviously, there are problems with not having a linked chart in my preferred platform.

When I connect to Kinetick second and reload the historical data, I get the gappy chart again because it's using Zen-Fire which only uses RTH. When I connect to Kinetick first, I have problems getting data on my intraday charts. When I use the 1440 minute bars, I'm not sure how a day is measured, and I don't think it's completely accurate. This is all very frustrating.

            Hi,

The nature of this issue is related to using the Kinetick End of Day Free feed for daily data, and a Zen-Fire connection simultaneously. When you connect to Kinetick first you are getting delayed data for all supported instruments, but if you connect to Zen-Fire second you should be able to get the historical data available with Zen-Fire.

Can you please send an email to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com and please include your log and trace diagnostic files.
You will find the log file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Log folder.
            • The log file will be named ‘log.YYYYMMDD.txt’

You will find the trace file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.
            • The trace file will be named ‘trace.YYYYMMDD.txt’

At that point I would like to review your diagnostic files and schedule a time to remotely assist because based on your current configuration we should be able to get the real-time data from Zen-Fire when connected second, and that is the issue that I would like to resolve with that information.
