What E-mail Alerts Does NT Send?

A fairly basic question: When I configure the e-mail options under Tools->Options->Misc, does NinjaTrader start sending any alerts automatically? Or are those e-mail settings just used by scripts?

Hello sampai,

These alerts are for errors and platform related messages. It will send alerts if you lose connection or if strategy is disabled for example.

For script based emails you must call SendMail() to send an alert email.

Does SendMail work with scripts/indicators on all charts or just on those in current workspace? I.e. if I have an sendmail alert in a chart in a hidden workspace, what happens?

Yes, scripts are still processed for inactive workspaces so you will see an email if the conditions are true.

Inactive means open but not currently active. Scripts are not processed if the workspace is closed.

sorry for my newbie questions; inactive means that I switched (e.g. by Shift F3) to another workspace but the former one has not been closed?

Right - If you can see the workspace listed under File > Workspace, then it will process scripts.

The check mark indicates the current active workspace and the rest there are inactive.
