The database file has a size of 30,280 KB.

I did an instruments reset again with the old file and curiously it worked this time (I did no database repair before, just for testing).

So I am fine nor but I can not understand why this process did not work yesterday? The only change (in my opinion) was to let NT create a new database in the meantime.

    Thanks a lot.

      Hello Joerg,

I could not say why the rollover update did not complete yesterday. I would have expected this to work OK. I was suspect that your database may have had some corruption and prevented the update. However, since it was able to update today, I am not certain of this.

However, I am glad everything has worked out for you.

        Dear Chelsea,

Let me ask one further question, maybe I can avoid such situations in the futures by that way: Are the data of the symbol database included in the "configuation files" which are chooseable during the backup wizard via File\Utilities\Backup?

        Many thanks again.

          Hello Joerg,

Instruments (symbol, mapping information, and rollover dates) are stored in the database file. (NinjaTrader.sdf).

You are able to save this with your backup.

            Dear Chelsea,

sorry to ask you again but now I have the opposite problem:
There are experiy months included in the instrument manager which should not be part of the contract cycle: Nov-13 for ZL and Nov-13 für ZM.
Also for 2014 they are not included. If I try to remove them and restart NT they always get renewed.

How can I delete them permanently without using a custom symbol? This would not be updated from NT in the future.

            Thanks a lot.

              Hello Joerg,

              Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent the automatic recreation of these contracts.

                Hello Kyle,

thank you for your reply. If so, could you please skip the following 2 contracts of the expiry calendar which is uploaded to the instrument manager:
Nov-13 for ZL and Nov-13 für ZM.

These 2 contracts do not exist and did never exist.

                Thank you very much.

                Joerg

                  Hello,

could you please delete the Nov-13 contracts for the two symbols ZL and ZM in the symbol database which gets uploaded to the instrument manager? These two expiration months does not exist at the exchange and therefore NT does not plot continous contract charts since some weeks:

                  Thanks a lot.

                    Hi there,

We removed this expiry from our servers last week.

You may manually remove it from your Instrument Manager by going to the Edit tab--> scroll down to the "Contact Months" section and then "Remove" the 11-13 contract.

Once removed restart NinjaTrader and you should see the chart loaded correctly.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

                      Hello Matthew,

I tried two times as described but NT restores the two Nov-13 contracts. Could you please check on your side? What can I try else?

                      Thanks a lot.

                        Hi,

Sorry for the confusion - looking into this further it looks like these values were incorrectly restored during server maintenance in the middle of the week. We've flagged these to be removed this weekend and are taking steps to prevent them from reoccurring.

                          Dear Matthew,

I repeated the deletion but the Nov-2013 contracts were restored again. Seems the change during the weekend were not successful?

                          Thanks a lot.

                            Hello Joerg,

In testing here, it appears that the 11-13 contracts are removed after the reset.

Have you restarted NinjaTrader since the resetting of the instrument list? If you have, are you checking the Instrument Editor's Contract Months menu or the Instrument Manager's expiry drop down menu?

                              Hello Matthew,

Instrument Editor's Contract Months menu. But I would like to avoid a complete reset because I have some adjustments made in the past which I won´t like to lose. I only removed the 2 Nov-13 contracts and restarted NT. Why does this deletion not avoid the reupload of the contracts?

                              Thanks a lot.

                                Hello,

A reset is required to update NinjaTrader's instrument definition file to remove the contract which you are seeing re-added. There is no way to overcome the issue without resetting NinjaTrader's instrument list however this should be the only step which is required.
