Market replay data

I agree with timmyb...for me the only reason why I would use NT is for market replay...I can get free practice accounts anywhere with extremely sophisticated charting that is better than NT (e.g. FX Sol's Accucharts), but market replay is the unique thing.

If you can't get backdata that can replay, this software is only going to be of limited use in the future (not from the moment you sign up), even if I could run a computer permanently to collect real time data. Looking for a particular pattern that you trade over time means you can't have gaps in your data. And also collecting enough data to replay the same period every day to develop your judgement in a concentrated period of time means I need historical data to replay.

The only way for me now is to find someone who can write a data conversion program that works (the one posted by Vitamin C elsewhere does not work on my computer). I am surprised NT did not make it a priority to enable historical data replay.

Thanks guys for you comments. We are aware of the value of this requirement and definitely are looking into what could be done in future releases.

replay data

i've just seen a thread on replay data files (trading files, storing files to one location that anyone could acess, etc). The last post was in Janary 2008. Did anything come of this project?

I am also begging for some movement in this.. it's a great feature to replay data market, but it is unuseful if there is no data for the replay...

I have uploaded a few months of YM and ER and they are available for downloading. I will add a few more things later. Feel free to upload any instrument replay files not already on the site. Feedback/suggestions welcome.

You'll need to extract the zip replay files into your db/data directory, not import them.

There was no 'data' folder already in my db folder. There was only a file 'instruments.txt' and 'ninjatrader.mdb'. So, I created data, and extracted the zip files for the ES ticks I downloaded from your site.

However, I can't get NT to use them, I load up a chart for ES 06-08 for instance (what I downloaded was May 2008 data from your site), and it shows nothing.

Also, if I do Connections -> Market Replay, the only date I have is for yesterday (my first day using NT).

nvm -- I figured out not to place it in program files\ninjatrader, but in my documents\ninjatrader instead. They both have a 'db' folder!

Right, in fact you NEVER should touch the <program files>/NinjaTrader 6.5 folder.

All your data and setting are located at <my documents>/NinjaTrader 6.5.

Hi guys me again long time no see, Been busy and well since this last month has been insane, I would totally appreciate anyone who can get the ES or ym data for last month for me. I have a demo of software for Ninja i want to see how it looks with the data.

I'm also really excited about more replay data either from NT, or from NT users. Also what would be great is if we could somehow replay our historical data.

With sierra charts, we can load up any chart and just replay the data there, for any instrument, even if it wasn't recorded.

This would be a killer app imo.

Sure, i love Ninja's replay, I use it all the time and it's a big reason why this is my platform of choice.

But - we cannot replay historical data. We can only replay live, recorded data.

If we could replay historical data for example (even just tick data,no bid/ask) then we could replay any day that we wanted to, even if we had not recorded it.

So, for example, if you want to consider trading a new instrument you have never traded (or recorded) before, you could download historical data from Zen (or elsewhere) and replay that.
