Can’t reset DB

When I try to reset DB in NT 7 I get the message Failed to compact DB. Old DB is preserved. You need to restore manually. There is a file sharing violation. A different process might be using the file.

How do I restore manually?

Can you please close NinjaTrader and go to (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader 7-->db. The 'db' folder contains the database (.sdf).

Due to the error, it has been renamed as 'NinjaTrader.Old'. The .sdf file named just 'NinjaTrader' will be the database file that NinjaTrader uses. So please rename the .sdf file 'NinjaTrader' instead of 'NinjaTrader.Old'.

Subsequently start NinjaTrader and check if the issue remains.

OK, there are both a NinjaTrader.sdf and Ninjatrader.Old.sdf in the db folder. I have renamed them as each other get same error, I’ve renamed then one at a time and both at the same time and a file with the original renamed file regenerates on boot up and I get same error.

Can you please check if your virus scanner or another application scans/locks files in the (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader 7 folder.

Please make sure to configure your virus scanner or other application so that none of the files in directory above would be scanned/locked or remove that directory from the scanning list.

Subsequently check if the error message persists when resetting the database.

Downloaded a un locking program attached pic of what it shows. When I unlocked NT crashed.

Just did another unlock and reboot and its working error free.
