Charting with Interactive Brokers Data Feed - Timezone

    Hi!

I have just installed NinjaTrader and linked it with my IB account. It manages to pull in the data and build charts OK but I am seeing that the chart dates/times are wrong on NinjaTrader. They are reflecting my local time which is not what I want. I would like to have EST.

e.g. FX trading stopped at 31/12/2010 however the chart in NinjaTrader is showing the same bars but shifted up to 1/1/2011.

Is this a bug? Or is there a way to set up the X-axis to reflect EST ?

    Thanks.

P.S. I should add that NinjaTrader appears to show the end time of the bar instead of the more usual start time. Can this be changed?

    Hello BlakJak

    Thank you for your post.

Since NinjaTrader charts sync off you PC clock you would need to change the time zone to the one you want your charts to track.

For more info on how NinjaTrader chart bars are built, please reference the following resource:

      Hi!

Thanks for your help. This makes sense once explained.

It could be a nice feature to be able to offset the time axis of the charts. I suppose if I travel to a different timezone and change the time on my PC then my indicators that are based on the timezone would be screwed up. e.g. I have an Asian Session Hi Lo Indicator which needs to know exactly when the Asian session occurs. How do you propose this type of issue should be managed?

      Thanks.

        Hi BlakJak,

Currently, the only way to address this would be to change your PC's timezone.

That said, I will forward a suggestion to revisit this area on to my development team. Thank you for your feedback!

Hi. When i get Tme DataSeries object from strategy, in wtat time zone i recieve it? For example, i live in London, and my timezone now is gmt + x, but my timezone was shifted to, for example, gmt + x + 1, because of summer time shift. Do i get all date in one time zone? Or all DateTime objects in DataSeries array created with adjustment to my local tume zone (including autemn and summer time shifts)?
          Thanks for reply.

forregg, you would get the date / time stamps in your local used timezone, the .NET framework will handle the DST changes as needed.
