Problem With NT7

    Problem With NT7

    I'm just installing NT7 and already I have problems. It won't let me import anything with the error message that there are some script files with programming errors. So this must be a sample program on the system. I found errors on all 4 samples (SampleATM, SampleMACross etc...) It appears that Jurik based formulas could not be found nor WoodiesCCI.

    I can't figure out how to delete the sample programs or the jurik and woodies indicators. I never downloaded those either, so I have no idea why a fresh program would have errors. And I can't do anything until this is resolved.

    And yes I did read the posts about this problem, but the solution posted won't work since I can't see these indicators:


    ">Please take the following steps:
    • From the Control Center, click Tools > Edit NinjaScript > Indicators.
    • In the edit indicators menu, double click on any indicator to load it's code.


    I don't see any sign of Jurik or Woodies indicators. Are they hidden?

    I just read another thread with following idea:

    If you are unable to compile after that, I suggest removing all the scripts "Tools>Edit NS>Indicators" and assemblies "File>Utilities>Remove NS Assembly" then reimporting the scripts:

    That also doesn't work as NT won't let me do anything, same error message. Why does NT just freeze if one code if screwed up? It kind of defeats the purpose of trying multiple new ideas if everyone of them has to be perfect before you move on to the next idea. This way I'm stuck not able to get any work done while some indicator which I didn't even download is freezing the entire piece of software.

      Hello canuck,

      Thank you for your post.

      Can you please double click on an indicator again and once the code window opens please press F5 to compile. Once the compile has completed please attach a screen shot of the error messages listed at the bottom of the window. If the error is not completely visible please adjust the column prior to taking a screen shot.

      To capture a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screen shot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CRTL + V to paste the image and lastly, save as a jpeg file and attach to your reply.

      I look forward to assisting you further with this issue.

        "Can you please double click on an indicator"

        This is the problem, I can't click on the indicator as it's not there. Yet it's there in the background somewhere, hidden.

        I've attached where I see the error file and the Indicator section to show you that it's not there.

        When I click on the error file from the Sample Strategies a Custom Ninjatrader Vendor file pops up. Where is this file so I can delete these them?

          Is this problem related to upgrading from 6.5 or does everyone have this issue? If it's related to the upgrade, should I just uninstall everything and re-install 7.0?

          If I do that, will it erase my exported files from 6.5?

            Please send a note to Support [AT] NinjaTrader [DOT] com with the following:

            1.) A link to this forum thread.

            2.) Your most current trace file.
            You will find the trace file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.
            Today's file will be named 'trace.20101210.txt'.

              Aloha Chris,
              I just went to nt.7 from nt.6.5 where I used woodies cci ,woodies autotrader and cci De with no problem.When I went to nt.7trouble error codes when I try to compile CCI De as per instructions.I have tried all your instuctions for compiling but to no avail.I get "error on generating indicators"Also attached is a screenshot of the result when I try to compile the cci de indicator by dbl. clicking on it,going f5.Could you help?

                There is no Trace folder.

                    Canuck,

                    Make sure you are looking in My Documents\NinjaTrader and not program files.

                    You may also be able to use our Help > mail to support feature to send the trace files. If you use this feature, write Attn: Chris 406103 in the subject line.

                      Hey Ryan,

                      You were right, at first I was looking at the wrong folder.

                      I found the files causing me problems under bin/custom and deleted them. I don't know if they're crucial for system performance or functionality, but now I can complie without errors and have started importing files I exported from 6.5 with no problems.

                      The files I deleted were:
                      Ninjatrader.vendor.dll and
                      Ninjatrader.vendor.cs.

                      I wonder if I should just uninstall all NT software and try to re-install to make sure I haven't comprised the software by deleting these 2 files? Reading that they were Vendor files, I assumed this was just 3rd party indicators and not system critical?

                        Those files come with every NinjaTrader installation. Unfortunately can't say if you'll run into issues without them. Best would be to run a repair or reinstall to get them back.

                        The issue you were probably running into was with an incorrect reference to these files. This is managed from a NinjaScript editor, Right Click > References. If you can post the whole message you got related to this files we can confirm.

                          I think this must have been the problem. I uninstalled everything and re-installed, everything works fine now. Must have been a glitch when originally installing that messed up the reference to those files.

                              Diffucult compiling

                              Maybe you can help I have almost the same problem as canuck but with CCI De indiacator.Support says I need an update of the CCI DE to work in Nt.7.Check my attachments.
                              If anyone is using CCI DE nt.7 successfully maybe you could send me a copy of the working cci de ninja script.
