Importing historical data - daylight saving time issue?

There is data available here that I would like to import into the HDM but I'd like to make sure the daylight saving time is properly managed before I try - I assume it will take about 4 hours or so to do the import so I'd appreciate knowing that it's going to be OK before spending the time on it.

The data is in time zone
    GMT (no Daylight Saving Time)
In the HDM I can choose GMT, and there's no mention of any geographical time zone for it, so I assume there's no Daylight Saving associated with it. Is that correct?

If I use GMT, will it correctly show the data in my charts in the London time zone when Daylight Saving is in force here? (That's my computer setting).

    Thanks

    Hi adamus,

Would it be possible for you to provide me with a bit of the data which contains dates which would occur during daylight savings time?

      Hi Kyle,

I guess any of the forex files from the website will do: forextester.com

        adamus,

Unfortunatley, I'm not able to open the text file when downloading on my end. If you're able to do this on your end, please provide me with a bit of the text file that includes data from times during daylight savings.

Hi Kyle, you should get your browser software looked at. They are standard zip files containing ascii text files.

Anyway, is this the kind of thing you want?

            Hi adamus,

Thanks for providing the requested data. (I was unable to load the text file on my end as it was huge)

Which of the GMT timezone options are you selecting when importing?

              Kyle,

you need a text editor that doesn't try to buffer the whole thing. I use cygwin and less because I'm actually a linux user more than a windows user.

What do you mean about time zone options? There's only one time zone dropdown that I can see and that's what my whole question is about - will it all be good re daylight saving if I choose GMT - co-ordinated universal time?

                adamus,

That you're using the coordinated time is what I needed to know. On my end, this is being displayed correctly durring daylight savings time dates.

                    Hi adamus,

I tested in US Mountain time.

That said, you could replicate my test using your timezone by importing that data snippet on your end.

OK thanks. Took me a while to find out if MST has Daylight Saving or not but I found it in the end.

Looks like I'm good to go. Thanks v much.

                        Hello,

probably my issue is quite similar, therefore I post it in this thread:

I have data in ASCII at EST time but without daylight savings (i.e. UTC-5). The import wizard -if I am right- does provide only the GMT/UTC timezone without daylight savings. The other regional time zones - especially EST- seem to have daylight savings. Therefore I do not know how to import these data correctly.

Could you please help with that questions?

                        Many thanks,
                        Joerg

If you import the data, do you notice that the data is off by an hour between March and November? Or does it appear correctly? Could you attach a sample data file for review?
