IB to NinjaTrader (Charting & Strategies)

New to Ninja Trader. I am looking to develop, test, and implement strategies on ninjatrader using a data feed from Interactive Broker's TraderWorkStation. I have "connected external" on the ninjatrader side. However I am recieving no chart data when i attempt to create a new chart. Im sure im missing something. Help anyone?

Hello Sean,

The External Data Feed does not provide data by itself. It is used in combination with other applications to feed NinjaTrader with data.

You will need to create an account connection for IB as per the instructions at the link below to receive data.

Connect Ninja to Interactive Brokers

Hi Sean,

If I understand what you are saying correctly, you need to set up your IB account in Ninja first.

External Data Feed is not your IB account.

Disconnect from External Data Feed.

Then click the menu bar Tools / Account Connections / Add

The Add New Connection wizard box will appear.
Give the connection a name of your choice, click Interactive Brokers in the Providers box, and check the Connect on Startup box if you want to connect to IB as soon as you run NinjaTrader.

Now your IB account is set up, it will appear in the File menu.

Click File / Connect and you will now see that Interactive Brokers has appeared.
