    Question...

Hi...just tried update version 7 with the noted trend channel tool corrections...

It still appears that as soon as the right end if the setup line moves off screen at the left side of a window, the parallel line then disappears...this seems to be the way it was working before....has a change in this respect been made here ??.....

    "Fixed
    4502
    Charts
Extending left/right on the trend channel drawing tool didn't work properly when the anchors where off the visible chart range"

    Screen shots below...

    Thanks...

      Hello,

The change has only been made to the trend channel tool.

Brett...that is the v7 trend channel tool in the screen shots below & in post #46...
it appears to be working the same as the v6 version...

as soon as the right end if the setup line moves off screen at the left side of a window, the parallel line then disappears...

The parallel line is gone in screen shot 2...as soon as the right end of the setup line moved offscreen....

You want the parallel line to always be visible untill the right end of it moves offscreen to the left....

Perhaps my install of v7 did not go OK...??

        Thanks...

          More screen shots....

Here are 2 more screen shots...

In 1...the Trend Channel v7 and a pitchfork anchor line...

In 2...as soon as the left end of the Trend Channel tool parallel line moves off screen
it disappears, while the anchor line for the pitchfork remains on screen OK...

You want the v7 Trend Channel parallel line to remain on screen just like the blue anchor line example....

What was actually corrected in the version 7 fix on this tool ??...

          Thanks...

            Update....

Just did a clean install of version 7 on another machine....the trend channel tool does seem to work correctly there now with the latest updated features....sorry for the bother....thanks much for the fix on this...this has become a favorite tool....

            Thanks...

Update....A more careful analysis in the above post #51 & video link there shows this tool is still working the same as in version 6....

              Another Question...

Hi...it's me again...looking at the trend channel tool in release 7 today...did a clean install of 7 last night so it must be working OK...if you review the video on this (link below)...it seems to be working the same as it was in release 6...parallel line does not stay on chart the way other chart tools will when zooming in or scrolling to left....would love to hear what the scoop on this is...

              Thanks much as usual...

                Alfred,

I have found this is the case yesterday. Not sure what was changed by development to make it less sensitive. However I'm checking to make double sure this is expected.

If you havnt got a response from me on Monday on this please let me know so I can look into the issue further.

                Thank You.

                  ....

Thanks Brett....it does look like it is working just the same as before....
maybe someone forgot to add the actual fix on this to release 7 ??

It would be quite difficult to even remotely consider this "as expected" as it stands now....

Here is another example of the unfortunate way this is working currently...

                    Suggestion...Trend Channel Fix....

Here are several suggestions on how to perhaps easily fix the trend channel parallel line from disappearing...or to easily create similar tools....

In the existing Trend Channel tool...link the parallel line graphically to the setup line with a transparent line (this new connecting line could also be user formatted as desired)...this would create one single chart object that would then remain on screen until all of it had exited the left side of the screen.

The way it is now....as soon as the last anchor point to the right on the tool (on the setup line or parrallel line) exits the screen left side the parallel line can disappear ....as the perallel line is not graphically linked to the setup line perhaps...

Screen shot 1 below shows how this could work....

Or...another option....looking at a revision of the Fibonacci Extension tool...see screen shot 2 below...
this could also give a single graphic object similar to a revised Trend Channel tool (as shown in screen shot 1) that should stay on screen OK....

And here is even a 3rd option...revise the pitchfork tool to mimic the trend channel tool...
                    see screen shot 3 below....

Question....in post 14 below I suggested adding an anchor point to the right end of the parallel line. (Josh replied in post 17)...if there were an anchor point placed there and this was to the right of the setup line...wouldn't that keep the parallel line on screen until the right end of the parallel line had exited the left of screen...??...looks like this could apparently work to keep the parallel line on screen under all conditions....

                    Thanks.....

                      Suggestion....

                      Brett....

In Post 54 .....I again suggested adding an anchor point at the right end of the parallel line ( in post 14 below originally)....this would allow the parallel line to remain on screen under all conditions similar to most of the other Ninja chart tools....

Josh, in post 17 below, indicated this would be possible to do (adding an anchor point)...but he indicates this may lead to possible confusion when one does programming with the tool....it seems that one would be aware that most of the time one draws this tool to the right...the trade off here is that with the additional anchor point you would have a tool that works correctly graphically for all users.....perhaps when the tool is drawn in reverse only one anchor point could appear on the right end of the parallel line..??....or if knowing whether the tool was drawn forward or reverse is critical, a dot marker could be placed close to the beginning of the setup line or parallel line perhaps....

Note ....if you draw this tool in reverse so that the anchor point is on the right end of the parallel line....the parallel line will then remain on screen until the right end exits the left side of screen...this verifies that an additional anchor point on the right end of the parallel line will make this tool much more workable graphically than it is now....parallel lines would then remain on the chart....just as other chart tools do with an anchor point on the right end...

                      Thanks....

An additional note...if you had the linking line between the setup line and parallel line (graphic examples in post 54)....you could see at a glance if the tool was drawn forward or reversed ....

                        Demo...

Here is a short video demo on the way anchor points on the trend channel work when the tool is drawn left to right and right to left...it seems that if there were anchor points on each end of the parallel line it would eliminate the disappearing parallel line problem...

                        Thanks....

                                Hello,

Do you mean that you have set this a global draw object and they do not appear on the other charts? What is the time frame you initally drew this object and what time frame are you looking for it on?

On the chart in which it does not appear, are the anchor points within a viewable range of the chart? Can you get the trend channel to appear if you compress the time axis (click on drag to the right).
