    Hello Alfred,

Your suggestion in post #28 has been inserted in our tracking system for future enhancements. It has been assigned with ID number 1023.

I can reproduce the issue you reported in your last post (#30) on my end as well. As soon as the left anchor points are out of display, the entire trend channel disappears. I will forward your findings to development as well. Thank you for reporting.

      Hello Alfred,

Unfortunately this is as expected behavior. We already made some improvements in this regard, however this does not mean that if anchor points are out of sight, it will always show the trend channnel. It will function the same as other drawing objects - if an anchor point is too far from visible display, the object disappears.

        Expected Behavior......??

Here are 3 more screen shots...first is the setup showing the Trend Channel plus 2 other draw tools....2nd shot shows the left anchor of the Trend Channel setup line just off the left side of screen....you then completely lose the trend channel tool...this is just simply not good enough behavior....while the other 2 draw tools completely remain which were plotted in the same location....seems like you might take another look at this again...??

In screen shot 3 you see the right ends of the 2 draw tools remain on screen until they exit the left side....this is the way the trend channel should work also....the right end of the Trend Channel parallel line must remain on screen just like the 2 other draw tools do until the right end of the parallel line exits left side of screen...this parallel line right end is the critical point and what that tool is largely all about....again...you can see the right ends of all other draw tools until they exit the screen at left....the Trend Channel parallel line should work (under all variations of the tool setup) this way also...

        Thanks..........

            1 more example...

            Thanks Jason....

Here is another example....first screen shot shows 3 Trend Channel tools applied...
then zoomed in on chart 2 levels ...(second screen shot)...and all Trend Channel tools disappear ...( thereby losing all chart reference to the critical right end points of parallel lines )....somehow the parallel lines must lock in place when one may zoom in or scroll left...

            ..............

              ....Suggestion

Here is a suggestion on the Trend Channel tool...

When you have an initial straight setup as AB in the screen shot...then if you highlight to move the B portion...you have to first move the right end of the A portion away from the left end of B ...then one can grab and adjust B to where you want it...then go back and replace A to your original setup point ...

If when you have a straight setup as in AB...if the segment that is clicked on could be the first movable portion perhaps ....this would make it easier to adjust things....thus clicking on line B one could immediately adjust B with its left highlight point without fussing around with moving the right end of A first....

              Thanks...

                Hi Alfred,

the change you suggested in post #36 is implemented and the changed behavior will be available with the next update of NinjaTrader.

                Thanks for your suggestion,

NT, it seems there have been enough complaints about your drawing behavior long enough for you to seriously consider changing the way you draw objects. Scrolling the chart should not make a line disappear--it's simply too critical of a function to ignore any longer!! If I cannot be assured that the object I drew will be visible, where I drew it, regardless of anchor point locations, the integrity of everything I draw is in question. Seriously, PLEASE look at this. Certainly the team project manager must understand from a practical trading point of view how critical this is?!? I've made some priority 5 reports before, but this is a priority 1 !!! Please just be objective and put yourself at the trading screen and understand how frustrating it is when a trader misses an entry or exit because the line does not show up, because we were zoomed in too far!!

I think your words that this problem is "fairly critical" is an understatement. This problem is unfortunately not restricted to the channel tool, but also appears when using the standard line tool, and drawing rectangles, and probably other tools as well which I simply don't use very often. I keep pestering NT about this and I'm sure they hate it, but how ridiculous is it that in the charting portion of a trading software program, that the lines do not draw correctly? I identified this problem back in March and you can read about it in this thread:

It was identified as a "known limitation" and was promised something to help with this in the .7 release which is coming soon hopefully. I'd just like to know, will this behavior still be exhibited in .7? I experience this problem every single day, and it's gotten to the point where it's almost too distracting to trade, because of the thought in the back of my mind that perhaps one of my lines is not displaying, so I have to scroll and zoom to verify all the time. Regardless of the performance implications of fixing this, we NT users (particularly this lifetime license holder, who has a financial investment in this product) would rather see correctness than anything else! Please hear us loud and clear that this is unacceptable, and I personally won't stop posting about this until it is fixed.

Thanks guys for the posts and enthusiasm!

This is a limitation at this time and is already on our list to review for our next major release of the software, however this will be some time before this is released. What will help in .7 is the sensitivity of it being displayed or not displayed on the chart specifically for the trend channel tool.

Do you have a rough approximate time for the next major release perhaps ??....am looking forward to historical data on bid ask trade volume....assume that will be available then....

Don't hold your breath on that Alfred... seems like I've heard that's not coming anytime soon. Best to get the gomi indicators for now, they work great even without the native support.
