Updated to NT 6.5 version 18 and lost indicators

Hi,

I had Gom volume delta series of indicators on my charts including recording data. Now that I did the mandatory update to NT 6.5 version 18 (at least mandatory for Mirus clients) all the charts reopened correctly but the GOM related indicators are missing from the charts. Supposely now they have mistakes on their formulas. They are very important to my trading strategy. How can I recover it so my charts look as they were before the update?

Are you able to re-add the GOM indicators via the Indicator menu?

Upgrading NinjaTrader to the latest version should not change NinjaScript code of existing indicators. How did you determine that these indicators no contain incorrect code?

Are these custom created indicators or do they come from a third party vendor?

If you cannot add the indicators via the Indicator menu, I suggest to remove and re-import these indicators and check again if you can add them via the Indicator menu.

Hi Jason,

Yes I'm unable to reload because it says "you have custom NinjaScript files on your PC that have programming errors. These errors must be resolved before you can import a Ninja Script Archive File". Problem is when i try to delete all the existing custom Ninja Scripts that were downloaded from this website's download area and others, it tells me it cannot be deleted because it is referenced by Ninja Script files and these dependencies need to be removed first. I look for all the others to see which is referenced where and I can't find it. So I'm stuck not able to reload indicators, unable to delete indicators and unable to have the indicators on my charts.

How I know the file is Script is now wrong. I re-open the indicator that worked perfectly before this update and tried to compile it, but it wouldn't because there was an error in the file.

Any ideas where to next?

Hello Nick,

Please follow the instructions below to see where the errors are coming from after compiling any indicator or strategy. This will allow you to debug the indicator/strategy or remove it from your PC. If you’re wondering why you receive an error when compiling only one indicator or strategy, it is because NinjaTrader compiles all indicators and strategies. Not just one.

1) Open NinjaTrader
2) Go to Control Center -> Tools -> Edit NinjaScript -> Indicator
3) Select any indicator and double click on it.
4) A new window will appear and you will need to right click and select Compile
5) At the bottom of the window a new section will appear were you can find the error locations. Double click the error and you will be directed to the location of the error.
6) From there you have the option to debug the indicator or remove it. You can delete NinjaScript files via Tools-->Edit NinjaScript-->Indicator/Strategy, highlight it and select Delete

If this will not work, you can perform the following workaround as well. Note that you will lose all custom and third party NinjaScript files.

Create a backup file with 'NinjaScript files' unchecked(!).

Uninstall NinjaTrader via the Windows Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs (XP), Programs and Features (Vista).

Delete the My Documents-->NinjaTrader 7 folder. Do not delete the NinjaTrader backup folder(!).

Clear your browser cache and download and install NinjaTrader 7 at the link below.

Restore your settings and you should be able to import new NinjaScript files again.
