Select an instrument programmatically

Is it possible to select an instrument programmatically from within a strategy i.e override the value in the properties dialog box?

Scott, this is unfortunately not possible. You could create a secondary bar series and run every calculation on that secondary series though as a type of work around though.

Thanks for getting back to me and that is a great solution. Could I have several so I could switch programmatically among them internally?

I have a high frequency trading system and certain times of the day (or certain conditions) are better suited to different length bars (I use tick bars). So I might want to use a 21 tick bar and then switch to a 150 tick bar but don't want to stop and restart the strategy.

From what I think you are saying, I could have a primary bar series and then secondary ones. I could then simply reference the bar series best suited to the conditions at hand.

Scott, yes that does sound like a good solution and it would definitely be possible to create.
