    2010-09-01 11:48:23:753 Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files\NinjaTrader 7\sounds'.
    2010-09-01 11:48:23:753 at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)

seems like a pretty nasty message because it cant find a sound file.......

I'm running 64 bit Win7 and Ninja is installed in the ProgramFiles(x86) directory and not the plain ole ProgramFiles.. I'm using the 32bit NT7 since zen doesn't support 64bit yet. Yes I can change the path,, but still pretty nasty if its wrong ...

        gg80108,

In the image you're showing, have you selected these sounds manually, or is NinjaTrader loading the defaults?

            gg80108,

This occurs as you attempt to select another sound, or when you try to bring the selection menu up?

as soon as I click on the dropdown box arrow down, to select a different sound.. Is there a environmental variable in ninja that may point to the wrong place?

                Hi gg80108,

                Thanks for the clarification.

From the sounds of it, the path for this indicator is likely hard-coded to Program Files. This will not function for 64 bit PC's.

If you will provide me with a copy of the indicator, I would be happy to confirm this.
Please send the indicator in a note to Support [AT] NinjaTrader [DOT] com.

This script is from vendor and is encrypted. Here is what he says:

When I call the "PlaySound" method in the NinjaScript...I am not specifying a path at all...I'm letting the NinjaTrader platform use its internally defined path.

So it's really a matter of how NinjaTrader was installed...and what environment variable it is using. And, I do not have information on what their settings are.

                    Hi gg80108,

I'll need to follow up with my development team on this. Thanks for your patience.

This is what the trace shows.. when u look up the the "PlaySound" method in the NinjaScript...it really doesnt say to put a full path.. this worked great until the 64 bit systems install in the x86 directory and not just the Program Files where NT is looking!

                          Ben,

Development has looked at the complete stack traces and it most likely has to do with some way you have it coded.

Can you please provide the exact code snippet for how you call PlaySound()? Thank you.

                            gg,

This is something the consultant or 3rd party vendor should be troubleshooting with you. I suggest you bring them into the loop on the forum, otherwise you will likely ping pong as the middle man, when the developer should be working in here to save time, efforts, etc.

Hello folks...GG, thank you for making me aware of this thread. I wasn't aware it was being discussed here.

I think there may be some misunderstanding...GG, are you getting this error when the platform attempts to play the sound, or when you go to select the WAV file name in the parameter list?

I thought you were getting the error when the platform is attempting to play the sound. But one of your posts here leads me to believe it occurs while you're in the Indicator parameter window.

Let me know the answer to this and I'm sure this will lead to a resolution of the issue.

                              Thanks,
                              Ben Letto
