Error During Historical Data download from Google Finance

    Dear all,
while downloading historical EOD data from Google I am getting this error message =

Error on reloading data: Failed to retrieve data from Google (Panic)

Can any body help me as to why this error is cropping out?
I am unable to get around this problem.

    Hello rain2010,

    Thank you for your note.

What instrument/interval are you attempting to load when this occurs?

Which version of NinjaTrader 7 are you using? (Help > About)

      Yep
      version is 7.0.0.20

Instrument is .CNX100 and many others from NSE ( Indian Stock Market )

Interval is day( End of Day Historical ) as currently NT7 doesn't support realtime feed .

        Hi rain2010,

As I recall, the Google EOD feed does not offer NSE data. You'll need to check with Google Finance directly to see if this is offered through their free EOD feed.

NOOOOOOOO.....yesterday only I downloaded EOD historical for the .NSEI ( S&P CNX NIFTY ) for last 2 years and it was smooth, no glitches.....though I had manually set the instrument. Now to day when I imported symbols nearly 1500 of them , I am unable to download today with the error cropping up.......whats wrong?
may be some database problem....please have a look...if you want i can come in teamviewer also.

            rain2010,

Please provide me with the settings you're using for .CNX100 and I'll further test on my end.

              Thanx NT_Kyle,
I tried again with manual setting by creating another instrument list with only 2 symbols, and it downloaded smoothly data for last 4 years starting 2006.
But with the same settings when I try from another instrument list having around 1500 symbols it fails with the same error as I mentioned earlier in my previous post here.
Well can you tell me How many symbols can an Instrument handle at max?

Any way given below the settings I am using.

              Master Instrument = .CNX100
              Tick size = 0.01
              Currency = Indian Rupee
              Simfeed Start Price = 0.00
Merge Policy = Use Global Settings
              Point Value = 1.0
              Margin Value 0
              Instrument Type = Stock
Session Template = Here i hv used my own temp....Nse time - which starts from Monday till Firday....timing is 9 am to 3:30pm
              Exchanges = Nse
              Symbol Map =Google .CNX100

                rain2010,

Please double check the instruments you imported against those you created manually.

Are you sure that there is no difference at all in the settings?

There are other issues with other symbols also.
Like BPCL.....like even after manually creation also it couldn't fetch data....then I changed the instrument type i.e. from stock to index.....and tell me what..... data fetching started....may be the query string is for index only. Now here is a crux....suppose I want to import symbols say 1000 of them, but I want them to have index as instrument type istead of stock , can it be done from the symbol import window or from somewhere else?

Unfortunately not, you will need to change the 'Instrument type' for each instrument individually.

Can you please compare the instruments you created manually and the instruments you imported using a stock symbol list. Please go to Control Center-->Tools-->Instrument Manager. Highlight one of the instruments and click Edit. Check if the Definition and Misc tabs are setup similar as the instruments you created manually and which receive data.

If the issue remains, could you please post screenshots of the Definition and Misc tabs for an instrument you created manually and for an instrument you imported using a stock symbol list.

Thanks Jason, frankly I am not a techie. But then I found the solution and all historical data from Google is now fetched , I had to change the instrument type from stock to index for all the symbols manually, but i had to do it in Visual C# environment

                        Hey,

On a somewhat related note, I am trying to download data on Canadian stocks. I can get it to work with Yahoo finance, but for some reason, the splits and dividends are not adjusted. I saw that the update button no longer works, and therefore, I tried updating splits with other data providers.

Kinetick doesn't seem to have canadian stocks (or maybe I am not using the right symbols), and I can't figure out how to get google finance to work (although the do have the data on the website - example symbol would be TSE:TD).

I have tried several different symbols for downloading the data, but none of them seem to work. (I get the panic error). Any ideas? How should the symbol be formatted?

                        Thanks,
                        Phil

                              Hi,

Yes, please upgrade to V7.0.1000.1. Then see if the issue persists. If it does, check your log tab in the control center for error messages and let us know.
