Charts keeping layout w/ multiple monitors

I have NT-7.

I have 3 monitors and each time NT is restarted most if not all the charts will be moved back to one monitor. The size settings of each chart will be retained but not positioning. Please advise.

Thank you for your post.

First, make sure that you're using the 7.0.0.20 release of the NinjaTrader 7 beta. You can check your software version by clicking Help > About.

If you are not running NT 7.0.0.20, it is available here: http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/do...g_software.htm

If you are on the most current release, please create a new workspace (File > Workspaces > New Workspace). In the new workspace, add three windows and move one to each monitor. Next, click File > Workspaces > Save Workspace, then restart NinjaTrader.

Does your layout remain as it was when you saved it?

No, now 2 of the 3 stay where they should. The control center and 1 monitor return back to my primary screen.

When I go back to my main workspace now all the charts load only on my primary monitor.

ha, upon another restart a few of the charts on my main original workspace will load in the correct location.

Sorry - I'm not sure that I follow.

Does the new workspace act as the original does?

yes, some of the chart positions are remembered, others are not

You'll find the trace file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.
Today's trace file would be named 'trace.20100821.txt'.

3.) The workspaces you're using.
You'll find the workspaces in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Workspaces folder.

charts forgetting their positions on multi-monitors

I have had this problem off and on for years and could never figure it out.

I now have the fix:

For what ever reason the Control Center must be in the primary monitor when you exit and all of your charts; their sizes and locations will be perfectly preserved on restart of Ninja.
If the Control Center is not in the primary monitor upon exit then most of your windows will forget their position and reopen on top of each other in the primary window.

On a two monitor set up this does not seem to bean issue, but for three and up the problem persists.

FYI: I run 6 monitors with 28 windows open. Ninja 7 XP pro sp3

What video card are you using?

Is this one a laptop with many splitters or a desktop PC?

I have a desktop PC running three NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290 cards.
They look very plain and small, no fans just a heat sink,
...each card handles two monitors.
You just have to make sure you buy a mother board with 3 PCIe slots.

I have not experience any of these issues on either my laptop or desktop.

Although control center on laptop is on my laptop panel, my charts save fine on my extra monitor. nvidia Geforce 8500M GS (Windows Vista 32bit)

On my desktop with Nvidia 9600GT and 7800gtx, middle and right monitor are on the 9600GT, and the left monitor is 7800gtx. Control Center lives on the right side monitor, and saves all charts just fine across all 3 monitors. This is running Windows XP 32bit, sp3

Our suggestion would be to ensure that you have the latest video drivers or it may be related to those specific cards as we have many users that have 3+ monitors that do not run into this issue, including a few employee's that run NinjaTrader on their home PCs with more than three monitors.

Unfortunately we do not know all the different video card configuration, but this is an uncommon issue.
