Charting old and new contract at the same time

Please clarify this ;

The way to define if merging old and new contracts is from the mergeback policy on "Tools-Options-Data" and it is global for all chart ?

I mean ; it is not possible to have a daily (or 60 Min) chart with all crude contracts merged and adjusted from start of year AND another 1 Min chart with old and new contract with its correspondig volumes ?

Hello pmaglio,

If the 'Merge policy' is set to UseGlobalSettings in the Definition-tab of the instrument, it will use the setting at Tools-->Options-->Data. You can access the Definition-tab via Tools-->Instrument Manager, highlight the instrument in question and click Edit.

Unfortunately you can only set one merge policy per instrument.

You could create a chart using MergeBackAdjusted first. Subsequently you change the merge policy for the instrument in the Instrument Manager and create a second chart - it will use the modified merge policy setting. However any subsequent chart will use the same modified merge policy setting as well.

I found that changing merge policy after creating one chart can be a partial solution ( until a data refresh or re-conneccion to data server happens ).
If I set policy to not merge (so i can chart different contracts at the same time) then what happens to instrument labeled ##-## ( like CL ##-## ) ; does it auto merge and adjust ?

Using the ##-## expiry will load continuous data from your connectivity provider if available.

Would it be possible to add the option of changing mergeback policy on each chart dataseries on some future version ?
That would be really usefull....

I will forward your suggestion to be able to set the merge policy per chart to our Development team as and ask them if they can add this to the list of future considerations of the software.
