Order Placement - A "Teachable Moment"

Jason, This current and seemingly recurring problem with Zenfire brings up an important issue that I need to revisit. When you place a bracketed order through Zenfire (targets with stops), do all of these orders reside in the market? So, that when the Zenfire connection is lost, you at least have your safety net. Another way of asking this is that if the Market accepts your bracketed order through Zenfire is this prima facie evidence that your bracket orders were accepted as well and are residing safely in an order que on the Market server?

No, OCO is held locally on your own computer.

Buttermilk, I do no see any issues as per the TF 09-10 aside from the gaps due to the reset of the historical data server. What issue do you experience? I suggest to create a brand new chart and check if the requested data is present and if you receive real-time data.

However as Radical mentions, OCO functionality resides at NinjaTrader. So when you are disconnected and you have two ATM orders active at the broker/exchange, the following can occur.

You have a short position with 2 ATM orders (stop loss & profit target). You close NinjaTrader and once you restart it and get re-connected, you are in a long position. This because both ATM orders were filled - one to close the short position and the other that caused the unexpected long position. The order that caused the unexpected long position was not cancelled when the other order was filled, since NinjaTrader was not connected to send the cancel request.

ok so basically your stops would be preserved?

Yes, as long as they receive a 'Working' or 'Accepted' status.

                Connection Problem

I have closed and re-opened NT, but I still cannot connect!

Receiving message: Login failed. Please check your account connection parameters and your internet connection.

Internet accessible. Account connection parameters appear to be in good order.

I know you'r not Zen-Fire, but will they correct the historical data? Back fill the missing ticks?

OCO stands for 'one cancels other'. All ATM strategy orders are submitted as OCO order. Information can be found at the link below.

                        OCO Orders (One Cancels Other)
Stop loss and profit target orders (submitted automatically via a strategy) are always sent as OCO however, you can submit entry or exit orders as OCO orders as well. Why? The market may be trading in a channel and you wish to sell at resistance or buy are support, whichever comes first by placing two limit orders at either end of the channel. To place OCO orders, via the right mouse click context menu select the menu "OCO Entry" or use the shortcut key CTRL+Z.

Unfortunately the missing data will not be added.

zen fire should be dumped asap

zen fire has had problems and continues to have problems. i have a loss from ninja using zen fire and i should be made whole.

i would forgive if this was a first time occurrence, but it is not.

zen fire should have insurance for these things and it is clearly their liability.
