    How are daily bars calculated?

I noticed something somewhat disturbing as I was trading the Globex session yesterday evening.

Every one of my charts in the minute scale is doing just fine and representing real time data. Something very peculiar happens on the day chart though. Whenever a new low is set, it shows on the daily chart as a tail on a candlestick for a few minutes and then disappears. The close and the current value is correct and reflects the minute and the actual, but the low (and I'm assuming the same would hold true if there is an aftermarket high that's higher than the RTH value).

Exact figures on one of the charts is 1073.25 low in the ES shortly after RTH yet the daily chart shows a low of 1082 which strangely corresponds to the low of the minute bar.

Any light shed upon this situation would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

Thank you for your forum post.

This depends on the data feed provider who are you connected to.

Also which day are you comparing? Yesterday?

I look forward to assisting you further.

      Hi Brett.

I am using an IB feed.

      I am comparing yesterday's data.
I have 15 min and 60 min charts pulled up for all 24hours.
There is also a day chart. I cited the data from yesterday.. the 11th.
I am assuming that the IB daily bar goes from midnight to midnight as that's when the new daily bar starts forming.

        Hello,

        Thanks for this information.

Is there any way you can take a screenshot of this occuring. As I'm having a hard time exacly understanding whats going on here. With IB historical daily data is provided directly from IB. What IB considers a day I am not familiur with. It could be that IB's day ends at regular trading hours and does not go all the way to midnight.

To send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screen shot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CRTL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.

I look forward to assisting you further.

This was precisely it. I was under the impression that it was whatever session hours that one sets, but I was mistaken.

          Thank you for your help.
