    Best Laptop for Trading

As a MAC user, I need to get a PC laptop for trading. I want something under $800, light-weight, smaller screen.

Processor: Is there an advantage in using Intel Core i3 over anything else? My tech wiki is poor in PC world.

    Any brands/models jump to mind?

    Appreciate your thoughts

    Thanks

    Hello nelsonnelson,

    Thank you for your post.

I have provided a link below that goes over Minimum PC Requirements. Also we do currently support Windows 7 as well.

As far as brands this varies from user to user so you may get additional input from other users here on our support forum on what they use and works well.

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

My only comment is do not believe their PC minimum suggestions.

I had a 1.6GHz laptop w/ XP and it was too slow for reliable trading.
Bought a quad-core 2.8GHz w/ 2GB RAM & two ATI crossifred Radeon cards, and kept getting memory errors from NT. Finally installed more RAM to get XP up to its maximum of 3.2 GB and most of NT's memory issues are gone.

Get the best you can afford -- but check specs on video memory. On a laptop, unlike system RAM, the video memory is often non-upgradable. The more the better.

I got a Sony VAIO with Intel i7 and 4Gb RAM Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium a few months ago and NT is performing superlatively (well... except for some bizarre compile errors and a bunch of other typical NT bugs... but that's another story...) not cheap though. I think I paid $1150 before shipping and extended warranty.

still using my 3 year old Thinkpad T60 when away from the office.
Absolutely sufficient cpu for NT7 and futures trading.

                regards
