    Reset SIM

    Hello Support Team,

    I tried several times to clear/reset the SIM account. I tried to clear the history, but when I do that the N7 jams and I have to close N7 forced. Program does not react anymore.

    I re downloaded N7 again but no solution as well.

    When I want to reset the Sim acc without clearing the history, the P/L disapears for a while from the DOM untill I click OK and then old P/L is back in the DOM again.

    Any suggestion?

      Please include a reference to this thread as well as include a copy of your most recent log and trace files. These files can be located under (My) Documents
      1. Trace files are located in (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 7\Trace\trace.YYYYMMDD.txt
      2. Log files are located in (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 7\Log\log.YYYYMMDD.txt

      The files for today should be labeled .20101005.txt.

      Please attach both of these files to your email and I will review for further investigation.

        Several Q's

        Hello Support Team,

        Some more questions for you.

        1. Is there a way to connect the Dom with the charttrader, in order to keep the strategies the same in both the chart and DOM when I switch over to an other strategy?
        I have linked the chart and Dom with a L color already. But when I switch the strategy in the Dom, the strategy in the charttrader (with both the same instrument) does not change. I get mixed up somethimes because of this.

        2. Can I change the sound and volume of the alarm in price alert in Indicators? It sounds very soft now.

        3. It happens many times that when I start N7 in the morning some of the charts (inside the workspace) will open with a prior date (somethimes a date of several days before)
        I have to set the date on the day of the opening again manually and then it runs again. (Data series/Data/End date). It should ope always with the current date I think.

        4. I have set several Hot Keys in the Hot Key manager. When I use them I have to use the mouse very little during trading and I can focus better on the charts.
        I miss 2 Hot Key options only in the Order Entry. I would like to have a short Key for In/Decraese Stoploss. I have several ATM strategies made and they work very well, but I would like to have the possibility to move my SL some ticks up or down like I use Hot Keys now to set to BE or Close Position etc.

        5. I would like to have a Short Key to place a Price Alert in a Chart, like I can do now already with placing other lines in a chart with a Hot Key. Programmers have difficulies to make that for me. Do you know anybody who can make that for me? Willing to pay for the work.

        6. I work with 2 or 3 (100Ticks) charts on several instruments. I look for an easy way to switch between the charts without using the mouse.
        For example I would like to assign 2 or 3 charts (in a workspace) to 2 or 3 Hot Keys, so that I can switch quickly and easy between them with Hot Keys.

        Now when I want to place an order in 1 of the charts(trader) I have to select it first with the mouse. When I could switch with a Hot Key from one to an other chart, I can trade with Hotkeys to place/close orders and I can switch between the charts in order to place an order in one of them.
        Programmers have here aswell difficulties to make such an option.

        I asked two programmers already (mentioned on the Ninja website) if they could add these Short Keys to N7, but it seems they can not make that. Is there anybody who cold make them for me? I'm very willing to pay for the work involved mentioned in itmes 4/5/6.

        Maybe it is a bridge to far, but maybe it is possible.

          Hi Stockjoker,

          1. The Window linking feature only links the Instrument between the DOM and Chart. It is not currently possible to have this link also control the ATM Strategy. You will need to manually manage this from the ATM control list.

          2. Not possible through NinjaTrader, if on Windows 7 you can adjust the volume using the windows volume mixer to control the sound for specific applications such as NinjaTrader

          3. The charts will display the date for the data that is current displayed in the chart. When you first start NinjaTrader, it is loading the historical data from your local database. Once you connect and download the additional historical and live data the date should update

          4. I will forward your suggestion to our development team

          6. I will also forward this suggestion to our development team. As a workaround, you can use the windows shortcut key to navigate to different windows by pressing ALT + TAB which will cycle through your list of open windows. There might also be some 3rd party windows based applications that do this, but I am not aware of any at this time. Perhaps another community members has a suggestion.

          Please let me know if you have any additional quesitons.

            Market Replay recorder

            Hi Support Team,

            I have a strategy build by a programmer. I backtest the strategy on the Market Replay Recorder. The strategy works well.

            But many times when I move the time slider of the recorder to the beging off the day, the strategy disapears from the chart and I have to place the strategy again in the chart and place back all the settings again.

            It happens also when I diable the strategy first and then moven back the slider to the bigin of the day.

            Is this as usual?

              I am not able to replicate this issue on my end.

              1) Can you please outline the exact steps you are taking for this to occur?

              2) Please make sure you are on the latest version of NinjaTrader, NT V6.5.1000.18 or NT V7.0.0.22 Beta. You can check this under Help--> About

                Strategy/Market Replay recorder

                Hello Matthew,

                Here are the steps I take to apply my strategy in combination with the Market Replay recorder.

                1. I open my workspace with several charts
                2. I connect with Market Replay Recorder and select 1 day only I want to use.
                3. I take an Instrument and an empty chart (in my workspace) with no other indicators.
                4. I select/add my strategy in the chart and fill in the correct settings I prefer.
                5. I enable my strategy in the control centre or in the parameter settings of the chart and let the Recorder play.
                6. When I'm in the middle or at the end of the day and I move back the slider to the beginning of that day, many times the strategy disapears from the chart and I have to place and set the strategy again on the chart.

                According to the programmer it should stay on the chart, even if I move the recorder timeslider fore or backwards.

                I hope I made it clear enough for you.

                  Even when I disable the strategy first and then move the recorder time slider, the stratgy also dissapears.

                    I will need to test this on a copy of your strategy. Please attach this strategy to your email and I will test to see if I can duplicate your issue on my side.

                      Faillure in Data recording?

                      Hi Support Team,

                      1 question for a customer of me.

                      I downloaded the latest version of N7 on his PC last weekend
                      .
                      When I go to Tools/Options/Data/ and I want to enable Save chart data and Record Market replay, the program wants to shut down. It gives a warning that a faillure is detected. (the problem also occured on the prior N7 version)

                      I send 1 of the latest trace files with this mail. Can you see anything in these files what goes wrong? Do you need more info?

                      I tried to send an other latest Trace file as well, but it exceeds the allowed size.
                      He also can not send a help ticket directly from the N7 help forum. Always fails.



                      2. Where can I find and can I send my saved recorerded data to this customer? I mean which files can I send, so that he can replay some days as well? (Ticks and Minutes)

                        Hello Riny,

                        1. I checked the trace file and it listed the crash below.

                        2010-10-31 22:09:34:610 ********* exception trapped *********
                        2010-10-31 22:09:34:610 Kan de aangevraagde bewerking niet uitvoeren op een bestand met een open door de gebruiker toegewezen sectie.

                        The crash indicates your virus scanner or another application locks files in the (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader 7 folder. NinjaTrader will need to write to this folder.

                        Please make sure to configure your virus scanner so that none of the files in directory above would be locked or remove that directory from the scanning list.


                        2. You can find Market Replay data at (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader 7-->db-->data. Please copy and paste the folders at the exact same location on the other PC. Make sure no other files are pasted in the db-->data folder - it should only contain folders named per date. If other files are present, it can cause issues with the Market Replay connection.

                          Copy of chart

                          Hi,

                          Is it possible to replicate a chart window without going through the control center?

                          Idealy I could right click on the top of the chart window and select "create a copy"

                          Obviously all indicators would stay

                            Hi uncogs,

                            Thank you for your post.

                            Each chart window exists separately, and because of this each separate window must be opened from the Control Center.

                            However, if you apply indicators and settings to a chart you can right click on the chart and select Templates-->Save As. Then when creating a new chart from the Control Center you will be able to apply the template such that the indicators and settings are applied also. This way the only thing you define when creating a new chart is the instrument and interval. Please see the following link on templates for more information.

                              Market Replay/Data

                              Hi Support Team,

                              A few question about backtesting.

                              I have a strategy build (for N7) by one of your 3th party suppliers.

                              Since 3/4 weeks I backtest the strategy with the (N7) Market Replay Recorder.

                              1. I would like to have some more days to do more backtesting. Is there any source where I can get some more (range data) days from this year?

                              I have recorded approx. 25/30 days with Zenfire data. Several of these recorded days the data is corrupt. I don't know why. Some of the day files contains only partial data of that day.

                              2. Can I select my strategy in the Control Centre directly (without using a chart) and run that?

                              Now I run 2 or 3 different strategy settings with 3 diff. charts. Maybe it is also possible to run them without charts. I just need to see the result of the trades in the Acc. performance.

                              3. Can I test my strategy with the Strategy Analizer, or can the Strategy Analizer only be used for default Ninja strategies? I tried to use it with my strategy but it does not seem to work. Can you tell me why?

                              4. What can I do or what is the purpose of Kinetic Free End of the Day data? How can I use it or why should I use it?

                              (Now I get my data from Zenfire for the realtime traffic).

                                Please be aware that running a strategy while connected to the Market Replay connection is not the same as backtesting a strategy in the Strategy Analyzer.


                                1. As per NinjaTrader 7, our preferred market data service is Kinetick. Real time service starts as low as $50 per month or completely free if all you need is end of day data. If you trade CME Globex products, you can have these exchange fees waived if you have a qualified brokerage account. This service is only available for NinjaTrader 7. Please visit www.kinetick.com for more detailed information.

                                2. Yes, you can select your strategies in the Control Center-->Strategies-tab.


                                3. The Strategy Analyzer can be used for custom strategies as well.

                                Could it be you do not have access to the historical data you request? Please see the link below for instructions in regards to backtesting strategies in the Strategy Analyzer.


                                4. You can connect to free Kinetick connection to receive historical daily data. It will only provide historical daily data.
