    License key constantly required to be entered

    Hello All

    Does anyone have a solution where I am constantly requested to enter the license key (paper trading atm)? I have followed directions, eg
    1) Opening NT, enter license key
    2) Open control centre, click help, then enter license again
    I am constantly requested to enter licence info, and it is annoying since I need to keep a txt file with the details on hand all the time...

    Any suggestions? Or is this due to my paper trading, and is normal...

    Hello,

    No, this is not normal.

    Reboot your PC then retest it.
    If that didn't work, try disabling your anti-virus and firewall software.

    If that didn't work please email us from help>mail to support so we can look at your log and trace files. Please include a link to this thread in that email.

            I sent in a ticket via help which I added sundry info

            I am using a quadcore iMac with 8GB RAM, using Windows7 and XP via parallels. Ofc I only use either XP or Windows7 at once.

              Hi datavis,

              I'm not sure if this issue was resolved but I wanted to follow up based on your clarification.

              Since NinjaTrader is installed on a Mac you are having to input the license due to your folder sharing settings on Parallels. If you take the following steps you should be able to setup your Mac for use with NinjaTrader:

              1. Start Parallels and select your virtual machine
              2. Press the "Configure" button on the top
              3. Under "Features", select "Shared Profile"
              4. Uncheck "Documents to My Documents in Windows"
              5. Press "OK" and start the virtual machine

                HI Ryan

                did as you requested but the steps I did were as follows:

                entered config as u stated
                went to options, then shared profile, and unchecked Documents

                i then had to log out

                Once relogged, I started up ninjatrader and recv an error that the trace.txt via c:/MyDocs is unaccessable. Then I recv another error stating that ninjatrader has to shutdown due to an error as follows:
                Ninja trader detected a problem and needs to shutdown. Information has been written to the trace file. Pls restart, etc blah blah...
                Error message sent but not thru the help > mail since I cannot start it up now

                  Hi,

                  Can you please uninstall and reinstall the NinjaTrader application using the following steps.

                  Please follow the steps listed below to completely uninstall and reinstall NinjaTrader:
                  1. Close all running applications.
                  2. Then from the Start menu select --> Control Panel --> Add and Remove Programs.
                  3. From Add and Remove Programs select NinjaTrader 6.5 and click Remove.
                  4. Then manually delete the folder "NinjaTrader 6.5" located under Start --> My Documents.
                  5. Delete any NinjaTrader installation files. This can be done by going to Start --> My Computer --> Search button --> search for (NinjaTrader*) --> select Local C Disk and then press search.
                  6. Then you will need to clear your internet browser cache and history. You will clear this from within your internet browser (with IE, Tools-->Options, delete cookies and files, clear history).
                  7. Reboot your machine.
                  8. Once these steps are completed, download NT6.5 from the link below:

                  Please let us know if you are able to get up and running after the reinstall.


                  Also, please uninstall and reinstall the .NET framework.


                  Please follow the instructions below to re-install the Microsoft .NET Framework on your PC.
                  • Terminate any applications running on your PC
                  • Go to the Windows Control Panel
                  • "Add/Remove programs" for XP users or "Uninstall a program" for Vista users
                  • Locate and uninstall the .NET Framework
                    • If your highest version is 4.0 or greater than do not continue with these instructions and let us know and we will follow up with further instructions
                    • If your highest version is 3.5 then proceed and uninstall this version and skip the next line
                    • If your highest version is 2.0 then proceed and uninstall this version
                  • Install version 3.5 of the .NET Framework which contains the 2.0 version which is required by NinjaTrader 6.5 (Download from here)
                  • After the install please check for updates to the .Net Framework with the Windows Update function

                  Note: Do not reboot your PC in between these steps as this can potentially create more issues that we are unfortunately not qualified to assist with.

                    Hi Ryan

                    issue is resolved when NT is removed via CP, that is the key step. Then follow your steps.

                    As per another thread, i removed NT first.
