Front Month Contract

I just recently started using NT7.

I would like to know if I can understand how the Front Month contract automatically rollsover to the next contract month.

When I pull up a chart like 6E 09-10 and I continue using, will it eventually automatically move from 6E 09-10 to 6E 12-10 (so I trade the right contract)? Or am I misunderstanding the Merge function for Ninjatrader 7....

Thank you for your post.

NinjaTrader 7 does not rollover the futures contracts, so when rollover day for the 09-10 contract occurs you will want to manually rollover to the 12-09 contract using the steps below.

• From within the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Instrument Manager
• Highlight the contract you wish to rollover in the left side of the Instrument Manager window
• Press the ">" button (the instrument will disappear from the list)
• Press the "<" button and the instrument should re-appear with the front month expiration date

The Merge function of NinjaTrader 7 takes the historical data of previous front months and adjusts it to display within the most current front month, so you will see back adjusted 09-10 historical data right after the rollover to the 12-10 contract.
