Range bars for stocks

Hi,

I have an account with TDAmeritrade and get my stock data in NJ through a TD connection. But there's one problem. The chart is blank whenever I choose to display a stock in range bars, no matter which increment I choose. Is the problem with TDAmeritrade, or is it impossible to display stocks through range charts?

Unfortunately this is as expected - range bars are built by tick data. TD AMERITRADE does not support historical tick data as per the link below.

NinjaTrader stores real-time incoming tick data to your local PC if you have a Chart or Market Analyzer (must have an indicator column added) window open. This data can then be used as historical data. For example, if you open a chart and let it run all day long, the data collected today, will be available as historical data when you open the same chart tomorrow.

Does that mean, if, for instance, I leave a 30-min chart of a stock open in NJ for 5 trading days non-stop, I will be able then to display that stock's price data of those 5 days in range bars?

Yes, that is correct. As long as you have 'Store real-time bar data' enabled at Tools-->Options-->Data-tab, real-time tick data will be saved in the database. It will be displayed as historical data in future sessions.
