Messed Up Charts

Hi. It seems that just about every time I shut the platform down and reopen it my charts always come back with gaps/missing data. Then I have to fiddle around with them and reload historical data and whatever else to get them back to normal.

Why does this keep happening? I'd leave the platform open all the time, but sometimes I am required to restart my computer due to windows updates.

Thank you for your note.

This could be one of two things. What you may be experiencing may be normal due to when you restart NinjaTrader your charts get reloaded from the historical data server and may appear different since the data you had recorded from your live connection gets overridden with the data recorded by the server. Please see the following page on this specifically the last section.

Let me know if after reloading data you are able to get the chart to look correctly, and depending on how off the chart is you may experiencing database corruption in which case a new database may need to be created. If this is the case please follow the below instructions to rename the NinjaTrader database.

This process will delete your saved ATM Strategies, Trade History and saved historical data.
Can you please rename the NinjaTrader database. To rename the DB:
• Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu
• Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> DB--> NinjaTrader.MDB.
• Right click on NinjaTrader.MDB and select "Rename."
• Name it "NewNinjaTrader.MDB."
• Then restart the software.
