Strategies under chart grayed out?

I just installed the latest version of ninja trader on my laptop, but when I open up a chart and try to add a strategy to the chart, that option is grayed out. I can run the sample strategies, but I can't add them to the chart.

The ATI option is enabled, so I'm not sure what else I need to do. Any help appreciated.

Hmm are you connected to some sort of data feed prior to trying to add the strategy? If you are not connected it won't let you add strategies and the option will be grayed out.

Yeah, I made sure it was connected. I was able to select and add the strategy under the strategy tab, but the option is still grayed out in the chart.

You can not have chart trader enabled if you want to run a strategy on a chart. Please disable chart trader and the strategy icon will be enabled.
