In this case, I didn't have any historical data for ES and wanted to reload it.
Steps to recreate the hang/lock-up
- Connect to OpenTick
- Control Center - Tools - Data -Reload Historical
- Select a good sized range of data .. my example is 06-19 to present.
- get Tick and Minute data
- Click ok
- The dreaded 'Loading Data' dialog box is displayed. -NT is pretty much locked up while data is loading... but this is 'normal' .. and is not the problem I'm reporting
- Wait a few seconds and click 'abort' on the Loading Data dialog.
- NT will usually lock up to any mouse or keyboard input. Charts are updating, but I usually have to kill it with task manager.
- I have seen one example where a phantom msg/dialog box is flashed after leaving it for 5 minutes .. and then it recovered. Sorry .. didn't see the msg or the log.
I think this is an issue with NT/Opentick, than the 'reload Data' function.
Also with the way NT in general handles the 'loading data' scenarios. You have to be very patient when that dialog box is open ... NT seems fragile when it's displayed.
