NT 7 application and data on the same partition

Hello

I have one dedicated partition for all the trading applications and data (not the C: drive). Also NT 7 is installed on this partition. Now I found some NT data on the C: drive under “my documents”. Is it possible to configure NT to have the data on another drive/directory then the C drive? It is filling up the partition.

Thank you for your first forum post!

Unfortunately there is no way to change the data directory as it will always reside in the My Documents folder. All Data is stored in the NinjaTrader folder here.

You can however change the location of the My Documents folder in Windows itself, this is something that I am not trained to assist with since this is a Windows function though.

Hello Brett,

thank you for the quick answer. You gave me a hint when you wrote to move the “My Documents” folder. Since Windows Vista there is a command called “mklink”. This command allows creating symbolic links to files or folders.

My working solution is:

1. Move “NinjaTrader 7” and “NinjaTrader Backup” from the “My Documents” folder to my trading partition

2. Create two directory junctions (symbolic link) in “My Documents” pointing to these two directories on my trading partition.

I use “Windows 7 x64” and “NinjaTrader 7 x64 (BETA)”.

That’s it.
