Sorry to post on an old thread, but is this information still meant to be current?

The first issue is that there is no "download" link on the Yahoo website.

I worked around this by building my own list from the table on the website.

Once I do that, I am able to complete the rest of the instructions.

Once it moves into the testing phase, the Market Analyzer seems to show the data fine.
However, when I try to view a chart it does not work.

I do File- > New Chart
FTSE 100 -> AAL.L (First stock in list).
      Period -> Day
      OK

      I get the error:
Error on loading chart data for 'AAL.L Default': Unable to load historical data: unknown instrument

      Any help?
Also, I am a NT noob, but is it possible to compact all the stocks of the FTSE 100 into one set of values? At the moment, it seems that if I wished to run any strategies against the FTSE 100, it would need to add up all the different shares each time?

        Hello evilC,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the support forums.

After reviewing the thread it seems as the information can still currently be used.

I can confirm that there is not a button to download the list on the Yahoo Finance website.

I would like to test this situation further on my end.

Please send a note to Support [AT] NinjaTrader [DOT] com with "ATTN: Ryan L." in the subject line.

In the message, please include the following:
1.) A link to this forum thread.
2.) The .txt file that you are using to import the FTSE100 stock list.

Unfortunately I do not follow the inquiry about compacting all the stocks of the FTSE100 into one set of values.

I look forward to assisting you further.

          Regarding the "compacting".
Let me take a data source that does work as an example - the SP500.

Let us say that I wish to run some analysis about the SP500 as a whole - I do not care about the individual shares, just the overall value of the index.

But if I run a chart or an analysis, it starts iterating through 500 shares!
If I run another analysis against the same data, it starts iterating through the 500 shares again!

So is there not a way to have it calculate the overall SP500 price once, then use that data in future?

            Hello evilC,

Thank you for the follow up.

In regards to compacting the SP500 list, there is an index that comes preinstalled with NinjaTrader called ^SP500 which is a compacted index of all 500 stocks.

            • Control Center > Tools > Instrument Manager...
            • Type "SP500" into the Name field > Click Search...
            • The SP500 Index will appear in the instrument grid below

Thank you. Not wishing to derail the thread any more, but I take it that the FTSE solution this thread is about would not provide a ^FTSE equivalent?
Any information about how to add one, or how to cache the data (eg compact once, re-use that data for further analysis) would be appreciated.

                Hello evilC,

Thank you for the follow up.

While these are not Indices, various FTSE Index Futures come preinstalled:

The FTSE Eurotop 100 Index is Q 06-14.

The FTSE 100 Index Futures is Z 06-14.

The FTSE 250 Index Futures is Y 06-14.
