Migrate from NT6.5 to NT7

I've installed NT7 v14 but did not migrate Nt6.5 data to v7 automatically. I tried restore but does not allow me. How can I restore files from 6.5 to 7?

Hi the first time I installed NT7 in my computer it asked me during installation if I want to migrate my existing Ninja Trader files . For various reasons I had to re-install NT7 again in the same computer but the second time did not ask it. Can I automatically migrate the files?

Hi,

Best is to completely uninstall V7 and then re-install again. Most likely something was left during the last re-install.

first BIG drawback to NT i have come across

Everytime NT comes out with a new version it is like going to Ground Zero?

So if i understand correctly, all the indicators i have now that i am using and am familiar with i will have only have to re-install them to NT7, if i am lucky, or maybe the versions i have wont work on the new version, plus the templates and strategies i put together have to be all rebuilt? and now there are indicators coming out that will only work on NT7..
And No i dont want to have 6.5 and 7.0 both running at once.

As I understand it you can not use your NT6.5 Indicators and Strategies in NT7.
I don't understand why. Since I am assuming NT7 also uses C+ as the language as does NT6.5. There must be a way to transfer the indicator and strategy code from 6.5 to 7 automatically.

We understand the inconvenience, but unfortunately NT7 is a major version upgrade and to properly introduce new features and such some old templates and such are no longer compatible.

For NinjaScript files, they have to be migrated with the steps outlined here in the section "Migrating NinjaScript Files": http://www.ninjatrader-support2.com/...ad.php?t=21019

With the new version of NT7 it was unavoidable that some code changes had to be made to improve the software. As such, there is the side effect of needing to make those amends on preexisting NinjaScript files. Please try bringing over your NT6.5 indicators with the steps described.

As far as the charts and templates go, unfortunately this was unavoidable as the charting design in NT7 is a complete revamp of the old charting. With the addition of multi-series charting new templates have to be used so you will need to recreate your charts to be able to utilize all the new features.

Unfortunately I could not say on 7 to 8 as we have not begun development talks on this yet. When we are in that process though we make every effort to try to keep as much of the old version compatible with the new version as possible.
