    Optimizer Problem

    Hi, I'm new to NT and first of all, thanx for this software!

    I've got a problem on the Optimizer; when it takes about 2 hours to Prorealtime (a french software) to optimize my variables, it takes ages to optimize on NT;
    At the begining it announces the time remains like '09:00:00', one hour later '11:00:00', and this morning '14:00:00'.... So I abort the optimization.

    I will try the MoJo add-on but do you have an explanation to this?
    it will be nice because your software is so user-friendly compare to meta!!!

    Hello Roumeau,

    It seems your optimization just needs a lot of time to be calculated. What happens if you optimize the SampleMACrossOver strategy? I suggest to use less historical data or variables in your optimzation to generate results quicker.

    Please note that NinjaTrader 7 will be improved in this regard. See the link below.

    General Application Performance
    This is an area that we spent a lot of time on during the development of NinjaTrader 7. We re-wrote core sections of the application to be more efficient in terms of memory usage and CPU utilization.

      Ok. Thanx for your answer!

      One more thing... lol

      what is the more efficient?
      1. developping a custom indicator and use it via my strategy
      2. or coding my indicator directly in my strategy?

      Thank you.

        Hello Roumeau,

        There is not much difference between these options. At runtime, all is compiled into 1 assembly and NinjaTrader has to create instances of the strategy and indicator.

        Perhaps it is better to code the indicator separate, since you can use it then in charts as well. In regards to your code, it might be better to create the indicator separate also. Otherwise the strategy can result in a big file, which would be harder to manage. Or you can use user defined methods. More information can be found at the link below.
