Data feed question

The IB data feed real time is a bit unreliable, especially when it comes to volume information. Therefore, I want to know if its possible to use a different data feed (esignal) for making the automated strategy buy/sell decisions? I see i can select esignal for historical data, and as a backup data connection. however, my question is, can esignal be the primary data connection used for generating all buy/sell signals, yet still place the trades through IB?

This is absolutely possible if you connect to eSignal first for the real time data, and then IB for access to your live trading account. Please see the following link.
