    IB Adapter Change & other errors

    Hello Support,

    Problem #1
    I am testing my strategy calling ATMs, connection #1 Zen-Fire, connection #2 IB.
    My ninja is version 6.5.1000.12. IB TWS version 901.8
    Today everytime ATM get the Kaching, I get IB Adapter Change error message. ATM on Zen-Fire connection is working without any issue.

    Problem#2
    Yesterday, I experience my Strategy for IB account stop working, though still on the chart. I then rightclick, strategy, just click ok ie. refresh the strategy, it then continue to work. No issue on Zen-Fire.

    Problem #3
    A third issue on IB account I quite often ends up with positions with no target or stop limit.

    Problem #4
    Also IB quite often reported "No such order" when Ninja issue cancellation.

    How to resolve all these issues ?

    Hello Edward,

    Can you please download and install NinjaTrader 6.5.1000.14 and TWS 900. You can download TWS 900 at the IB connection guide below.


    You can download NinjaTrader at the following link.


    Check if the issues persist using these versions.

    In addition, as per #3, what instrument did you trade? Could it be you traded oil futures, such as the CL and QM?

    If so, there are known issues with such instruments with IB and NinjaTrader. Please see the forum thread below for more information.


    Orders are sent to a different expiry for these instruments, thus your position is not displayed for the expiry you sent the order.

    Please see post #94 for the workaround.

      Hello Support,

      I have upgraded to NT 6.5.1000.14. Problem#1 persists. And here is my new observation, strange:
      1. Connect to ZenFire
      2. Set up Strategy on 4 Charts, strategy running.
      3. Strategy working taking trades, no issue.
      4. Connect to IB, suddenly kacing kaching kaching with no reason, I have not set up strategy for instrument I want to trade on IB. The kaching trigger IB Adapter Change error messages.
      The charts with strategy on Zen-Fire working fine. It looks to me the kaching with error message does not have anything to do with the zenfire charts.

      I waited a while, no more kaching for a while, then symptom came back with error message.

      How can I resolve this ?

        Can you please download and install TWS 900 as per the IB connection guide at the link below.


        Check if the 'kaching' error message persists.

          Hello Jason,

          I have installed TWS900 from the link.
          Kaching errors happens almost immediately after I connect to IB. I disconnect close all workspace that have instruments from IB (no strategy on chart). Connect to IB again. Kaching still happens. Error message: Assertion Fail, in the dialog box it is showing IB.Adapter.Change with a long string of numbers, and list down what I believe to be function call tree in NT.

          Please let me know how to resolve it.

              Hello Edward,

              Can you please tell me if the error occurs when you connect to IB when not connected to Zen-Fire.

              I suggest to remove your current IB connection and recreate a new one. Go to Tools-->Account Connections, highlight the current connection and click Remove. Click Add to create a new one as per the instructions below.


              Check if the error persists.

                Not exactly sure what the problem is, but please make sure you don't have any positions or executions/fills on options in your IB account.

                  Hello Jason & Dierk,

                  I have created new IB connection, problem persists.
                  I close all workspace. My default workspace has nothing in it.
                  Disconnect both ZenFire and IB.
                  Connect to IB. Immediately after connection the error happens, usualy 2-3 kachings. The string is as captured in the screen capture.
                  Thereafter, it could a few more kachings everynow and then.

                  I do not have positions / fills on options in my IB account.

                  I do have leftover 2 Shorts on CL03-10 on SIM101, when that future trading expires while I was away. Anyway to get rid of that 2 shorts?
                  I do not believe it is the cause, as that 2 shorts were there 4 days ago, and IB connection did not have issue then. Also the trading on CL03-10 was done thru Zen-Fire connection as it is my primary connection.

                    Hello Edward,

                    I suggest to connect to Zen-Fire and close out the two shorts. Subsequently check if the error persists upon connecting to IB.

                    If so, please send me your log and trace files for today. You can find these files at the following locations.

                    Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> Log--> log.20100226.txt for today. (log.yyyymmdd for any other date)

                    Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> Trace--> trace.20100226.txt for today. (trace.yyyymmdd for any other date)

                    Send them to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com and reference this forum thread. Please put 'Attn Jason' in the subject header as well.

                      Hello Jason,

                      I have attempted to close those 2 shorts on SIM101 when I saw it few days ago. But the trading of CL03-10 has ceased when I came back on Tuesday. NT reported there is not enough market data information to close the position

                      Any other way to clear it ?

                        Can you please connect to the Simulated Data Feed and check if this will allow you to close out the shorts.

                          I manage to close the 2 shorts, as per suggested. That is a neat trick.
                          I then connect to IB as sole connection and the Kaching problem persists.
                          I have sent the logs and traces.

                              Hello Edward,

                              Can you please go to Tools-->Account Connections, highlight your IB connection and click Change.

                              Click Next twice and tell me what you have entered as 'Host (optional)'.

                              Please check if the TWS API options are configured as per the IB connection guide below as well.
