I have been running NT with IB for over a year. for the last week or so, back up hangs up at "Archiving log and trace files..." Only way out is cntrl, alt, delete. I did try to delete all prvious backups in the backupfolder, not improvement.

Have you tried unchecking to backup 'trace and logs'? It could be those are pretty big and the internal zip process takes it's time to complete... -
These files will list actions take took place when you ran the software. We sometimes request this information in order to troubleshoot an issue.
By default, 20 days of log and trace files will be maintained on your PC. You can configure the amount of days at Tools-->Options-->Log-tab.Comment
