range charts and interactive brokers help!

i am trying to do a range chart using a currency pair but only a couple of hours worth of range bars are showing on the chart? even if i set the date to years or the bars back to 1000 still this makes no difference? how can i make this range chart look back on years worth of data? help!!

Hello,

IB does not support historical tick data with NT, so you won't have access to any type of bars that require tick data:

james377 : I am successfully using range bars with IB data - I am charting what I am trading - but as Ben says, there is no historical backfill which means you have to build the chart. I leave my trading computer on from Sunday evening to Friday night and being in Europe I am on IB's Swiss server which is reset around 0600 CET, so I set the TWS to log off at 05.59 then log back in manually around 0615, whcih is when I get up anyway.

This way there is rarely any "hole" in my data. There used to be some free programs around to auto start the TWS, but you have to disable the security code login thingamejig to use them.
