I have saved a Chart template(with the Range Settings set to Bars back) and was surprised to see that when I loaded the template that the Range Settings did not select Bars Back but selected Days Back instead! Is this to be expected?

Yes, this is expected behavior. A chart template will not save the settings used within the Format Data Series winodw. Unfortunately this will need to be adjusted manually when configuring your new chart. I will forward this to our development team for future considerations.
