    I get "Windows Installer" window every time i try installing

    Hi

    Im using Win XP with SP2. I tried installation using "admin" username. But each time the installer starts downloading data from the internet and at the end of it i get a Windows Installer window (with various options).

    I tried logging-off and restarting the whole process .. also deleted my IE cache and restarting the whole process. But no luck. Each time i get the same result.


    ANyone else facing similar issue?

    save ninja and right click on it and select run it as admin

      Tried that. No use. I get same message window no matter what i try. Even disabled my AV .... but of no use.

      Any other suggestion?

        Hello,

        I'm not sure I follow. You are trying reinstall NT and it is stopping? If so, try closing NT before you install.

          No, its a fresh install. Let me explain again.

          I'm trying a fresh install of NT.
          I save the 250KB installer file on my desktop. I clear my cache. Then do a Run as "Admin" . It downloads the whole of 32+ MB .. and at the end of download it only displays the installer windows (i had attached the screenshot earlier).

          I tried repeating the same step with my AV disabled (no firewall) as well ... but no sucess.

          Dont know what else can i do ? .. pls help.

            Hello,

            I'm not sure what you are using "admin" for. Do this:

            Please follow the steps listed below to completely uninstall and reinstall NinjaTrader:
            1. Close all running applications, INCLUDING NT.
            2. Then from the Start menu select --> Control Panel --> Add and Remove Programs.
            3. From Add and Remove Programs select NinjaTrader 6.5 and click Remove.
            4. Then manually delete the folder "NinjaTrader 6.5" located under Start --> My Documents.
            5. Delete any NinjaTrader installation files. This can be done by going to Start --> My Computer --> Search button --> search for (NinjaTrader*) --> select Local C Disk and then press search.
            6. Then you will need to clear your internet browser cache and history. You will clear this from within your internet browser (with IE, Tools-->Options, delete cookies and files, clear history).
            7. Reboot your machine.
            8. Once these steps are completed, download NT6.5 from the link below:
              Download
            Please let us know if you are able to get up and running after the reinstall.

                Hmm .. not sure what's going on, but you could try this: login as "admin" instead of trying to start the installer as "admin". May be that makes a difference?!?

                  Tried that as well. Logged in as \my_comp_name\admin

                  Downloaded the NT binary.

                  Started the binary .. it downloads some 32MB+ data .. and at the end gives me the installer screen!


                  I really dont know what im missing!

                    There appears to be problem with your system. Unfortunately I would not know what type of problem that is.

                    To work around that problem: please send a mail to "support AT ninjatrader DOT com", reference this thread and ask for the direct download link of the installer file. This might make a difference.

                      Any solutions to this?

                      I am having the exact same issue on one of my machines. NT is the only software having this issue, both 6.5 and 7.

                      Is there a direct link to the INSTALLER file, not the one that downloads before?

                          Thanky you Jason, it worked.

                          For further reference: NT installs by a .msi file.
                          In my windows somehow the MSI association got reseted, so the downloaded, AUTOMATIC installer didn't know it should open Microsoft Installer.
                          By a separate .msi file, that I could start manually, windows offered me a choice about which program to use with .msi files.
