NT 6.5 Crashes on start up

    NT 6.5 Crashes on start up

    My NT 6.5.4 crashed following an internet connection issue with
    "... encountered problem and needs to shutdown ... "

    Now it keeps crashing with the same message every time I try to start it again.

    Things that I have tried:

    1. removed all files from workspace to force default - no change
    2. delete the lock file for the mdb - no change
    3. used access to repair the database - no change

    Thank you for your post.

    Lines in the trace file attached to your forum post indicate a database corruption.

    Please rename your database using the steps listed below. This will cause NinjaTrader to create a new database. Because of this, historical chart data will need to be reloaded. Likewise, ATM strategy templates, custom instruments and instrument lists will need to be recreated.


    To rename the DB:
    • Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu
    • Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> DB--> NinjaTrader.MDB.
    • Right click on NinjaTrader.MDB and select "Rename."
    • Name it "NewNinjaTrader.MDB."
    • Then restart the software.

        How to change the Default workspace

        One of my Indicator on a chart has a problem(infinite loop) and it causes the NT freeze. How can I choose to open other workspace, or load the NT without any chart? So that I can fix the code.

        I am a newbi to NT, please anybody give me a direction.

          Hello dowhk,

          Thank you for your post and welcome to the NinjaTrader support forum!

          Please take the following steps:
          • With NinjaTrader closed, open the My Documents > NinjaTrader 6.5 > Workspaces folder.
          • In the workspaces folder, create a New Folder.
          • Next, transfer all files from the Workspaces folder in to the New Folder.


          This will allow you to start NinjaTrader without any charts loading. To restore your workspaces, just move those files back in to the Workspaces folder.
