How to Do COMPLETE clone on a new PC?

I want to have a 100% exact copy of my existing NT installation on a 2nd computer to use as a backup in case I have a PC problem with PC #1--so I can quickly switch over to the 2nd computer while live trading, etc.

Is the backup and restore utility the best way to do this?

I want to make sure I have the exact same ATM templates, chart templates, account connections, indicators, etc.--my goal is to not have anything that has to be manually done on the 2nd computer to make it an exact clone of the existing install.

If the backup and install is the best way to do this--do I need to first install NT on the 2nd computer--and then restore the backupo copy to it?

I can handle the details-but just wanted to make sure that I am using the best method for accomplishing this before I begin.

    Hello Jim-Boulder,

Yes, please transfer your saved settings and data using a backup file.

Create a backup file as per the instructions at the link below.

Once NinjaTrader created a backup file, it is located at My Documents-->NinjaTrader Backup as .ntbk file.

Copy this file to the new PC at the exact same location; My Documents-->NinjaTrader Backup.

Start NinjaTrader and restore your backup file.

Yes, please install NinjaTrader first and subsequently restore the backup file from your original PC.

Thanks for the quick reply....................but do you mean paste those files FROM those locations to the Ninja directory once its installed? OR do you do you mean from my old drive @ those locations to my new drive in the same locations? Sorry but I over think things sometimes<g>.

No worries. You will need to copy the files from your old drive to your new drive at the mentioned locations.

Thanks!!! all is well............even going to Windows7 as My Documents seems separate from "Documents and Settings". I just copied the whole Ninja 6.5 folder over the freshly new installed one. NICE
