How to properly close a position in a running strategy?

Hello, I was wondering how to close a position (manually) in a running strategy without preventing it from taking the next signal.

Example: My strategy is running and it has a short position, the profit is really good and I want to close it. Can I simply issue a "long" order manually to cover it?
If so, will it update the strategy position?

If you want to manually issue / change orders to be considered for your strategies, please call ATM strategy templates for exit management.
