I'm not sure where to post this so put it in Misc.

The desciption of the VOL indicator is:
"Volume is simply the number of shares (or contracts) traded during a specified time frame (..."

I am using the barchart.com FOREX feed. If the time interval is set to "tick" then all VOL has value of 1. It seems that the feild is actually reporting the number of ticks in the bar rather than the number of contracts traded. is this true?

How can I see the volume traded?

Matthew, unfortunately not supported - for the tick charts you would see a constant amount related to the tick chart interval you're currently on.

Technically the name and decription for VOL are incorrect. It shoud be called "Number of Trades" or "Number of Ticks"? Each trade can be of a different size, which is the volume - which is unavalible data. The 1 minute bar also counts the number of ticks rather than reporting the volume of trades during the bar.

Matthew, this depends also on the technology provider you connect to and what they support for this market / instrument category. Will check into this on the BarChart connection...
