Refresh after internet disconnection

Hello,

I live in a country where internet connections cut on a regular daily basis !
When my strategy is working on my PC & internet disconnects & reconnects, all data during this interruption are not showing thus changing my strat and signals. I know I can refresh it manually but how can I have it refreshed automaticaly on reconnection ?

Can you please tell me what data feed provider you connect to in NinjaTrader.

How long are you disconnected when this occurs?

What happens if you manually disconnect for two minutes and subsequently re-connect; does the missing data load automatically once NinjaTrader is re-connected?

I use Interactive Brokers feed but I am still testing Ninja so not live.
The result is the same if I disconnect it manually or not.

When I manually disconnect/re-connect to IB on my end, historical data is loaded upon re-connection.

Could it be you connect to an IB demo account?

I have an live account with IB where I trade everyday. Is there a option I have to activate in Ninja ?

Can you please start NinjaTrader and open up a chart. Connect a few minutes and then disconnect. Check what timestamp is reflected in the chart for the latest price bar.

Re-connect after 5 minutes and check if the chart will automatically load the historical data for the last 5 minutes when you were disconnected.

If not, please tell me what versions of NinjaTrader and TWS you have installed. You can check this at Help-->About.

I have tried everything and if I stay disconnected for 1 hour, the chart ignores that hour on reconnection. I have to solve this problem otherwise I won't be able to automate my strategy.
What should I do ?

I have noticed that if I disconnect and reconnect the Ninja plateform, the chart is refreshed but when my internet connection stops and reconnects, then data are not refreshed. Please advise.

Please manually reload the historical data in such case.

But this is not possible. If I am away of the PC and Connection stops and comes back the whole strategy goes wild. I cannot believe there is no solution to that problem !?

Unfortunately NinjaTrader does not dictate when a connection is lost. It operates like a radio receiver in that it receives a signal from your broker and then displays/reports these signals back to you the trader. When a connection is lost, it is the broker's API that determines this and reports this to NinjaTrader which in turn reports this back to the trader.

The common problems that contribute to this are:

- ISP issues

- hardware firewall issues changing IP addresses frequently

- Dynamic ISP address switching the address frequently intraday. Usually this happens once a week but you may want to check with your ISP. If they do change daily, a static IP address may work.

- With Windows XP SP2, if you have more than 10 open TCPIP socket connections open (10 programs making connections through the internet) windows will randomly shut down some connections

- Broker servers having problems
