    adding symbols

Is there a quick way to add all the symbols from nasdaq and nyse? I am getting tired of manually doing it the thousands of symbols.

Sorry, not supported right now. We have an "easy to use" import on our list already.

How can I use this import feature? Is it possible that I can make a .txt file with all the symbols I want for it to import?

Aside from importing, I need to migrate my installation of NinjaTrader to another server. Is there a way to migrate the symbols I added manually in an easy way? Is there some sort of config file I can transfer to my new installation?

You just would need to copy your DB <my documents>/NinjaTrader6/db/NinjaTrader.mdb

              Hello:

We have a pre-built instrument list of the S&P 500 stocks that can be downloaded from here:

If the stocks you are searching are not on this pre-built list, you can enter the stock symbol into any order entry window or Format Data series window for a chart instead of adding each instrument to the instrument manager.

              See attached screen shot

              Regards,

Hi I'm trying to add some Futures symbols. One problem I'm finding is that there is no option for Futures in the Type: Dropdown menu.

                  Hello:

You are correct. Unfortunately, futures contracts need to be added to the Instrument Manager first.

Yikes. So I need to input all the futures product I trade? It would be nice if this came with the installation then everyone would not have to add 40-50 Futures contracts.

In the previous version I remember a bunch of Futures Symbols were available. I don't see them in the new version release.

                      Hello:

NT 6 comes standard with most commonly used futures contracts pre-built into the Instrument Manager. All of the instruments avaialable in NT 5 are also available in NT 6 without having to create from scratch.

Which futures contracts are you seeking?

To verify, from the Control Center, go to Tools > Instrument Manager, select Futures and choose the Search button. You can then add these your default instrument list for easy retrieval in any order entry or chart data series window.

More information on adding instruments to this list can be found here:

I think there might be a bug with the new release. Because I'm not seeing any of the default futures anywhere (like ES for example).

There is no dropdown menu for futures, so I can't do a search.

                          Hello:

Please send an email to support at ninjatrader dot com and I can send you our Master Instrument List as an attachment. This file is to large to post in the forum.

                          Then, try the following...
                          1. Shutdown NT.
                          2. Copy the file Instruments.txt
                          3. Paste into the following folder:
                          C: > Program Files > NinjaTrader 6 > DB folder
                          4. Restart NT
The instruments should now be available in your Instrument Manager.

                          Regards,

                            Great Thanks.

                            It works now.

Is there any plans for making it so we don't need to input each symbol individually in the future? If not perhaps we could get a tool that would allow us to create the kind of file you guys made for the S&P500.
