Missing first 20 bar information.

Dear Sirs,

I am new to NT, and have been playing around with ninja script, and the indicators.

I have noticed that when I view a chart the first 20 bars do not have any volume shown in the indicator, this is also true of a very simple indicator that I have written just to display the close price (as part of my initial fore-ray into of ninjascript), but the values do appear in the data window.

Obviously I must be doing something wrong, but for the life of me I can not see what.

Any help that can be given would be much appreciated.

Set "Show unstable period for indicators" in the chart properties window to True.

Any ideas why it affects things like volume though?

Do you know if you can set this option from within ninjascript, so that it can be set automatically without the users intervention?

You can try BarsRequired = 0 in Initialize(). Or just save your default chart template with the setting you want to use predefined.

I see that this setting has been removed from NinjaTrader 7. I can't see why as it means that you can't even plot volume for the first 20-bars.

Yes, this has been changed for version 7. You can access a similar property for each indicator through. Right Click > Indicators screen. You can set Maximum bar look back to TwoHundredFiftySix or infinite.
