Canel or Close

NT has accepted my automated order and I am checking the PUF file. For some reason, I now want to stop running the strategy. Not sure if I should use a Cancel or a Close. Does it depend on whether or not the the entry order has been filled. It would seem that if the Avg Entry price is still 0 (therefore order not yet filled) I would want to send a Cancel. But if entry order has been filled, avg. entry price not 0, then I would want to send a Close. Do I have this correct?



In NT, I use the Cancel Pending Positon Strategy to cancel my unfilled order. What is the equivalent NT/Automated command?

Your understanding is correct, when zero, issue cancel.txt, when > 0, send close.txt. That is the equivalent AT command(s).

But it doesn't hurt to issue CANCEL first anyways ..... correct ?

NT ought remove the file once done..... whether a real cancel or fake cancel.

Just to make sure, for automated trading, one ought be sure.
